So what is going on with my cycle?

I had blood tests last week as am spotting the last half of my cycle constantly!
Normally from about day 22 till my period turns up. I booked the blood tests in when I thought I would be in the last half of my cycle, but turns out I ovulated later this month, so on the day of the blood test I had a peak on OPK.
blood tests come back fine, no idea what it is!
We are now gonna start cycle 9 of TTC!

What blood tests did you have? Spotting can indicate the corpus luteum is breaking down quicker than it should, so a CD21 test would identify low progesterone. It could be other things though, such as thyroid issues, which you'd need more than the standard TSH test to rule out. It could also indicate fibroids, endometriosis or endometrial polyps.

Continue pushing with your GP, you'll likely have to do it from the angle that there is an issue with your period/health rather than lack of pregnancy achievement, as they only look at a lack of pregnancy as an issue after a year. Good luck

@PlanBea thanks yeah I know we haven't been trying long enough yet- this will be second child, first time took 10 months, they checked all my hormone levels ie thyroid, LH, oestrogen etc! I'm debating paying for a private scan just to check about fibroids etc.

They won't be able to test your oestrogen and progesterone on the same test, have you had more than one, what day of your cycle was it on? And for thyroid was it a TSH test or was it full thyroid spectrum? Doctors tend to do the basics and aren't a fan of digging any deeper than necessary (I've had the "everything's come back clear!" Result when they haven't actually tested what was needed too). I'm lucky I'm biomedical and work as a health statistician which my GP knows about so I know what questions to ask but also don't tend to get fobbed off so much any more!

@PlanBea what I meant to say is that GP seems to think there was no more tests that can be done. It was on day 19 of my cycle. I have no idea what type of thyroid test I had done.

Ok, on day 19 you would have been too early in your cycle for a progesterone (CD21) test unless you have a short cycle? If your progesterone levels are low this can cause spotting as your endometrium is breaking down early, so will stop you getting pregnant as the endometrium is going before implantation happens.

Your TSH levels should be below 2 to sustain a pregnancy, bit can be higher and still be "satisfactory" for your own health (up to about 4.5), so there may still be something there that the doctor isn't willing to look at as it's a fertility issue rather than a health issue if you know what I mean.

In your shoes, I'd start on a progesterone friendly diet, lots of leafy greens, oily fish, nuts etc. Some people swear by seed cycling where you eat certain seeds depending on if you're in your follicular or luteal phase. Its unlikely to harm anything even if your issue isn't progesterone and might just help!
