Breastfeeding and fertility

We’ve been trying for our 2nd baby for nearly 5 months. I got pregnant first time with our first baby, so I realise how lucky we must have been.

I am still breastfeeding DD, but only first thing in the morning and to sleep at night. I’ve had regular periods for a year now, but is there a chance that breastfeeding is making me less fertile?

I thought having regular periods meant that everything was fine fertility wise, or could I not actually be ovulating (despite loads of OPK tests over several months I have never got a proper positive)?

Thanks for your help

It's certainly possible that breastfeeding is affecting your fertility. It affects people differently. But lots of people who are breastfeeding in only the morning and evening are able to conceive so I wouldn't worry about it too much right now.

It's common for healthy fertile people to take up to 12 months to conceive so you're still well within that window.

What approach are you taking to TTC at the moment?

Also when you're using OPKs how are you using them? Ie. from what day to what day? At what time of day etc?
