Inofolic

Hello!

I’m just starting investigations and have previously been diagnosed with PCOS. Hoping to start metformin and clomid in the next 2 weeks but the consultant also told me to take inofolic.

Have anyone used it and got any feedback??

Thanks x

Hi @Tillyisabelle2018

I also have a PCOS diagnosis - and have started to try for baby number 2.
I've been taking inofolic to support the metformin and letrozole that I'm also taking. I've only been taking it a couple of weeks and so far no adverse side effects. It's very difficult to work out if it's helping if you're already on medicated cycles! But I said to my fertility specialist - if it doesn't have any bad effects it can't hurt at this point!

Best of luck with it all

@Rg1987 thanks so much! Mine arrived yesterday so I've only just started taking it. I'm not on metformin/clomid yet as I have a scan booked for tomorrow and my husband is going in for a semen analysis next week. Have you found that everything works together? How long have you been taking it for?x

@Tillyisabelle2018 I've only been on letrozole (an alternative to clomid) for a month. They put me on the lowest dose as PCOS patients can over stimulate. It didn't work for me at that dose so upping it to 5mg this month. Fingers crossed this is the right cocktail!
It's hard as I'm not very patient (!) but everyone has said that the first couple of months are usually used to monitor and adjust medications to suit your particular medical situation.
Are they starting you on 50mg clomid?

Tillyisabelle2018 · 22/07/2020 12:41

@Rg1987 I'm not sure yet! The consultant said he needs to wait for all the results before starting me into clomid but I would assume I'll start on the lowest dose?

Be careful with inofolic and do your research. It can apparently lower the quality of the eggs especially if you’re slim. I took it for 6 months on top of 1500mg a day of metformin and had 2 chemical pregnancies during that time. Might be a coincidence as I also had thyroid issues and was having my thyroxine dose adjusted, then ovarian drilling and got pregnant 3 months after stopping inofolic and having the drilling

Rg1987 · 22/07/2020 12:47

@Tillyisabelle2018 Yeah I'd expect so - feels like a lot of waiting all the time doesn't it!

Tillyisabelle2018 · 22/07/2020 12:52

@Rg1987 yeah definitely! It's so hard to be patient and I do feel really guilty because we already have one child. It's such a difficult position to be in

@Tillyisabelle2018 100%...Secondary infertility is very strange. I have a lot of guilt about 'needing' more children - and also guilt that I can't easily give my son a sibling. Fingers crossed that these medicated cycles work for us

I was ttc for two years with DS, no pregnancies in that time, monthly cycles that looked normal though but no joy. I have lean PCOS (AMH reading during clomid was 138, so v.v.high), had 5 rounds of clomid which all failed. Was a risk for OHSS. Was referred for IVF, and I was worried about OHSS again because of my high AMH. I wasn’t offered metformin, presumably because I am thin (in hindsight a mistake imo). Whilst waiting for ivf I read some private ivf clinics recommend inofolic to improve oocyte quality (my understanding is that the wrong isomer ratio, with too much d-chiro-inositol, can decrease egg quality, but all the research I’ve read is that the inofolic brand contains the right ratio of isomers and has good quality control so improves egg quality. But that’s why I choose to use inofolic and not generic myo-inositol where I can’t guarantee quality control of isomer ratios). I had a final blood test, and at this point had been taking inofolic for two months, my AMH had reduced to 40 (almost normal range). Third cycle of taking inofolic I was pregnant, with my now 2yr old DS. My understanding is that it can take three months as that’s how long it takes to take new eggs to maturity. Never needed ivf, got pregnant naturally and inofolic was the only change I made, had tried everything dietary already, cutting out alcohol/sugar/dairy etc. I took inofolic all through pregnancy without issue (DS healthy and normal) and I continued to take it as I have found it makes staying a normal slim weight effortless (rather than a lot of effort before).

Just started trying for number two in January. Got pregnant month one of ttc. Ended in mmc at 8 weeks (but I caught Covid at 4 weeks so who knows). Just got bfp again yesterday first cycle after miscarriage completed. This time round ttc has been effortless, versus two years of hell and almost every intervention to get DS, all of which didn’t work, until I took inofolic.

So as far as I can tell, inofolic (and inofolic alpha this time) have been responsible for all three of my pregnancies, and for taking my AMH from astronomical to normal range dramatically in only two months. I think it was basically a miracle cure, and I was extremely sceptical about supplements having tried Vitex before clomid which made me much worse. Cannot say what is right for anyone else, but wanted to start sharing my experience here because inofolic has been such a success for me.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but hoping to get some feedback
I am 38 and have a 5 year DC (conceived easily and quickly and straightforward pregnancy). We have been TTC for a second DC for 2 years with no luck. Had my first round of IVF in Feb where unfortunately ended up with mild OHSS, and very low egg numbers despite having loads of follicles. In the end we had nothing to transfer (the two blasts were both abnormal)
I have lean PCOS, and have always had very regular monthly cycles. The fertility clinic couldn’t find any issues but put me on quite an aggressive protocol. I’m thinking of going down a more natural route, and have heard good things about Inofolic. Any ideas of it would help even though I’m having regular cycles? Any info/suggestions would be appreciated. 😉

Hi Polly,
I have been taking Inofolic Alpha plus for the last 2 days and I can already see a change in my ovulation strips ( as in they are still negative but picking up my LH levels more and much quicker than before). Bit of history- I had a baby in 2020 , went on the implant again 2022 and recently got a PCOS diagnosis on the back of a lot of blood tests and an internal ultrasound. Implant came out on the 19th of May and have not ovulated since but the tests were hardly picking up my LH anyway the lines were so faint that they were almost non existent. Since Inofolic the last 2 days my test today was the much darker and picked up much quicker since I started testing mid May!
