2 chemicals in a row

Does anyone have any success stories after having two chemicals in a row?

Or any help as to why it happens or what you can do to stop it happening?

I’m worried it’s low progesterone caused by my short 10 day luteul phase :(

Hi, so sorry to hear of your losses. I had three chemicals (I hate that term) in a row over the course of about 18 months trying to conceive. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and when that was treated, as well as having progesterone pessaries, I conceived my little one who is now 4.5 months old. I really hope you get your rainbow soon and hope you are holding on in there - chemicals are so tough because a lot of people don't recognise them as a pregnancy loss, yet the infertility services aren't interested either because you have fallen pregnant, and as a result I felt completely lost and isolated.

Curiosity101 · 18/07/2020 19:46

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through, it must be really tough. I know people refer to them as chemicals, I think it's just a euphemism to soften the reality. They definitely are very early miscarriages though, so if you do have another then if I were you I'd go and see your GP and explain you've had 3 early miscarriages. 3 is normally the trigger for tests if my memory is correct.

I hope you don't need to see a GP though. Wishing you the best of luck for the future.

@strawberrye thank you. I have hypothyroidism but am on tablets
I want to try progesterone but doubt the doctor will help me this soon :(

@Curiosity101 thank you so much

@Boc86 I had 2 at the start of the new year and nothing since. I'm sorry you're going through it too. My GP explained it as my body being able to get pregnant, but recognising that there was something wrong.

I don't know what the answer is I'm afraid. The past 4 months have been very stressful for all of us anyway. I'm trying to focus on bringing my stress levels and after 12 cycles of trying (my cycles are only 24 days long now) I'm planning to look at private options to have some tests done, as I worry about my progesterone levels and have no way of getting them checked via the NHS until after November.

MouseholeCat · 18/07/2020 21:33

I literally just came here to post about having 2 chemicals in a row as I'm in the same situation and feeling so lost. My luteal phase is 10 days too.

I don't know how useful this is but I have Hashimoto's and am medicated with levothyroxine but my thyroid TSH are in the normal range now and both chemicals were after that. I've just been put on low dose aspirin and am reading 'It starts with the egg' to see if I can boost my egg quality.

I'm so sorry you're also going through this, hope you don't mind me joining you in this thread.

Boc86 · 19/07/2020 06:29

Sorry you’re going through it @CurbsideProphet my cycles are now 26 days

Sorry you’re also going through it @MouseholeCat please do join, I want to start baby aprisin. When do you start taking it and when do you finish it in your cycle? And do you carry it on if you fall pregnant? And how long for? X

I took 75g if baby asprin from conception to 35 weeks. The actual recommendation is 150g a day now!

Also good luck. I have had 2 chemicals , 2 miscarriages and 1 mmc and now have 2 healthy boys! You will get there xx

Boc86 · 19/07/2020 06:47

Oh gosh did you, must have been an awful time
Do you know if aspirin does a similar job to clexane? I need that during pregnancy as I have a blood clotting disorder
They’ve given me no advice on when to start it, wonder if my clotting blood is causing the problem

OP posts:
Boc86 · 19/07/2020 13:07

Anyone else?

OP posts:
cookielove · 19/07/2020 15:22

It was pretty hard when i was in the thick of it with loss after loss!

Clexane is similar, i took that after as i am fat and had a c-section.

My youngest is 8 weeks old, so i am caught up in cute baby love right now and my losses are a distant memory.

Boc86 · 19/07/2020 16:42

Aww that’s great news you now have a little one x

I lengthened my luteul phase (it was really short) with Chasteberry and got pregnant the first month I took it. I saw an actual herbalist as I read it can be quite potent and I didn’t want to overdose on it and do more harm than good, but you can just hit it from shops/amazon Chasteberry Supplement 600mg 90 Capsules (3 Month Supply) Plus BioPerine. for Fertility, Estrogen, Hormone Balance, Menopause, Acne, Mood, PCOS. Agnus-Castus Berry Extract Supplements for Women [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QF15FRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VUgfFbDE7SCP?tag=mumsnetforu03-210]]

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 19/07/2020 16:54

Buy it not hit it Grin

Boc86 · 19/07/2020 19:38

Hahaha
Thank you, the link doesn’t work unfortunately. How much do you take and when during your cycle? X

OP posts:
AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 19/07/2020 22:28

Oh that’s weird, it works for me. Here’s a screenshot. The herbalist has me in 1200mg a day but this one says 600mg is a sufficient daily dose. That’s why maybe you need to see a herbalist for advice. I do remember him saying that it would lengthen my cycle from 22 days to around 30, but obviously I never found out if my period would have come as I got pregnant. I also started taking it the month I started TTC DD2 and got pregnant That first month.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 19/07/2020 22:29

Sorry, screenshot didn’t attach.

2 chemicals in a row
MouseholeCat · 19/07/2020 22:39

A word of warning on Vitex- it stopped me ovulating! It's great for a subset of women with really specific issues with prolactin but it can wreak havoc with your cycle if you don't need it.

Definitely explore whether you should be medicated now for the clotting disorder- apparently it's a really common cause of chemicals.

Gin4thewin · 19/07/2020 22:39

Sorry to hear about your experiences, i know how hard it is. Summer 2018 i had 7 or 8 in a row, month on month until i couldnt take it anymore and said enough, the plan for dc2 was over. April 2019 i got pregnant from one night of too much wine. I was a wreck for the 1st 4-5months but dd is now 8months old and a treasure. I had my letter through for a fertility clinic the week after i found out i was pregnant. I have a bicornuate uterus which makes me unfortunately prone to MC's, but i think my body just needed a break, time to recover and level out a bit.

Boc86 · 20/07/2020 06:42

Thank you @AllTheWhoresOfMalta I’ll have w good read up about it

@MouseholeCat oh wow interesting about the blood clotting, will the baby aspirin I’ve started help that? If I can get to the docs do I start clexane today at the start of my cycle? I knew I needed it during pregnancy but didn’t realise it was during conception too!

@Gin4thewin oh my gosh poor you that’s so so many in a row, so glad you got your happy ending x

Fredsmama · 30/01/2021 11:51

@MouseholeCat sorry for being nosey but I took this for a week just 400mg and I don’t thk I ovulated this cycle because of it. I don’t temp so obv can’t be sure. Now waiting for AF to arrive. How did you fix this or did it sort by itself?

MouseholeCat · 30/01/2021 15:05

@Fredsmama I stopped taking it and it took time, there isn't really anything you can do. I ovulated really late that cycle after I'd stopped taking it.

Fredsmama · 30/01/2021 15:09

Ok, thank you for getting back to me !! Really appreciate it.
