Can't quite believe it. After 18 months of trying. Awaiting a referral to fertility centre. Got a very strong positive test this morning. Eeek! What do I do now? Phone GP?

Congratulations! GPs don't confirm a pregnancy these days. They'll give you the contact details for the local midwife team and then they'll contact you around 8 weeks pregnant

mrsawhite · 16/07/2020 08:25

Ah ok. Still can't quite believe it!

CONGRATULATIONS!
I did actually let my GP know but you can do that just on the phone I think.

Thank you! I will call today. Ironically just had the letter through from fertility place. Better call them too!

@mrsawhite

When I got pregnant just as I was about to start NHS fertility treatment I was advised not to tell them until 12 weeks and knew that the pregnant would progress so that I didn't have to start the process all the way from the beginning

Wow this is the second thread today about this, I think maybe people are so worried about COVID-19 they have stoped worrying about getting pregnant and boom it just happens.

Good luck, I’m so happy for you.

Thanks! Just spoke to doctors surgery. Midwife is booked for 8 week mark but she will call me before then. Said appointment will probably be over the phone depending on the virus situation. Well. I had a polyp removed in June. But consultant said it doesn't effect fertility so that can't be the reason it was taking so long. But. Here we are!

@mrsawhite

Yes it will be a phone one - I had mine this week - takes about 90mins to go through all the questions

mrsawhite · 16/07/2020 12:25

Ah ok. God that must be a lot of questions! What sort of thing do they ask?

OP posts:
ivfdreaming · 16/07/2020 12:55

@mrsawhite

Everything and anything! Including standard questions about mental health and domestic violence - do I feel safe etc! Lots and lots of previous medical histories plus that of your blood family, where you'd like to give birth (which always seems ridiculously early to ask!)

mrsawhite · 16/07/2020 16:08

Ah I see. Hasn't really sunk in. If it wasn't for the fact I've felt sick for 2 days I wouldn't know!
