2WW early test maths

Morning all

The 2WW is driving me crazy and has me counting days, currently 8dpo.

I know I’m too early to test but will someone help me in terms of early test results?

FRER claims over half of women can get a positive result 5/6 days early, right?

Well assuming your LP is 14 days - that day falls to 8/9dpo - yet ‘most’ women don’t even implant until 9dpo and then the hormone needs time to rise.

How does this add up? Confused

According to the instructions I could have tested from yesterday and the majority of women would see a result but that would only leave me at 7dpo! Admittedly I only have a 13 day LP but even if I was textbook 14 it would only be 8dpo...
Or have I got this totally wrong?

Sorry for the stupid question, I just feel like we are convinced we can test early and should see accurate results ❤️

Funny you should put this up today, I was doing the same kind of maths this morning! I think the FRER would only work 6 days before your period if you implanted early, like the earliest possible, and maybe ovulated early. For me 6 days before AF is due would be 8dpo, way too early I think.

Thank you, I’m sure they just like making money from us buying early tests!! X

I read that implantation happens 8-10dpo in the majority of cases so I always wonder how accurate FRER is in making that statement.

Surely after implantation the body needs a little time to build up some HCG?

Luteal phases can last between 11 and 17 days, though typically it's 14. For the 14 days, your period is due on day 15, so a test 6 days early (which they say is "5 days before your missed period") would be day 10 dpo.

Implantation can happen as early as 6dpo but typically day 8 or 9. I suspect there's a bit of "sensitive test" with some "early implantation" and a dash or "long luteal phase" that has come up with their calculations Grin

Thanks PlanBea, that makes sense to me!

However I am now more confused because my apps count my 13 day LP as period starting on the 13th day - not 14th!

I’ve taken a frer this morning which is four days before I’m due which was a bfn so a bit gutted, but I’m only 9dpo so if my LP is actually 12 days not 13 I may not be out yet.

Thanks again.
