Multiple CPs (any help?)

Hi everyone, I thought I would share my story as I am looking for some hope right now and any advice would be so appreciated.

I sadly have already had 3 very early losses in the last 6 months. After having positive pregnancy tests, the longest I have gone is just 2 days after my period is due when the bleeding starts. I know people will say about testing early but given the first one was our first month of trying and I was excited so tested at 10 dpo to get a good line on a FRER, sadly, I have not had anything as strong as that since.

After the third CP in May, I got referred by the GP and had an ultra sound and blood test which ruled out abnormal shape womb and blood clotting disorders. The consultant said just to go to the EPU if I am pregnant again but sadly, I am not even getting far enough to have a viable scan.

One of the hardest things about this is that I am very aware of my body and therefore I know when I am pregnant. That's why at 8 dpo (yesterday), I tested and got a faint positive line. Initially I was so hopeful as this is the earliest I have ever got a positive but today at 9 dpo, the test is basically negative again.

I'm not really sure where next to turn and would love to hear from anyone who has similar experiences. Sorry for the essay but I am struggling and searching for help / answers.

Hi @GreenwichTTC1

I'm really sorry about your losses. I completely understand how you feel. I've had 2 in the last 3 months. I think for me it may well be due to my age (i'm 40). I try to keep positive in thinking that I can fall pregnant, there are so many women that have to wait a lot longer than I do, so if anything, that is something to hold onto.

I have now started to take Ubiquinol, the usual Folic Acid & Vit D, and this cycle I've tried Soy Isoflavones CD 4 to CD 8 to help produce a stronger egg. We haven't managed to DTD this time, so I won't know if it's worked or not, but I haven't had any side effects with normal OV day, so I will try again next cycle. I've also started taking baby asprin as that can also help. I know I can fall pregnant, it's the staying pregnant that is the problem, it's either old eggs or not being able to implant properly (hopefully baby asprin will help with that!) MY OH has started the Wellman Conceive supplements too.

I've had blood tests and all came back normal, the Dr has referred me to recurrent miscarriage clinic, so I'm waiting to hear back from them. (Prev MMC too).

I didn't want to read and run, you are not alone and even though they are early, they are still a loss. Have you looked into any of the supplements?

Sending love xx

Hi @Blondiemum1980 thank you so much for your message.

I'm so sorry for your losses too, it just really seems so unfair. That's great that you are being proactive though and I really hope that this is your month (go do the deed!!!!).

I'm taking Pregnacare conception which should hopefully have all I need but I also have started taking Vitamin C supplements as I read this can help with Progesterone (I fear this is my problem given that I spot before my period).

Unfortunately I believe the aspirin helps with clotting issues which I got the all clear from the consultant. I've just emailed her now to explain my situation and she basically said there is nothing further we can do. Do you know what they checked for in the blood tests? The consultant said to me the test for clotting was quite specific, hopefully this will be covered at the clinic for you.

I am 31 so I hoping the egg age isn't a problem for me but I just don't seem to know where to turn now in terms of next steps. I just feel like as they were all so early, my problem has been dismissed.

Sending you lots of love too and again thank you for not making me feel alone in this. Conceiving can be a really lonely process. xxx

Bumping again for any help.

My story is similar to yours – I've had multiple CPs over a number of years. We moved from NHS IVF to a private clinic earlier this year and they tested me for everything and found I have mild hypothyroidism with an FSH level of 3.09: apparently the 'normal' FSH range according to the NHS is anything up to 5, so if your level if below this, the NHS won't try to lower it. However, my clinic says there's a lot of research showing that if FSH is over 2.5 it can negatively impact on implantation and be a cause of early miscarriage. The private clinic put me on 25mg of levothyroxine to bring it down and it hadn't come down after nearly three months, so they then doubled the dose a week or so before my third embryo transfer, which was last week. I am currently pg from that round but only on 11dpo so of course anything could happen and I'm very worried about having another CP but I am hoping that the lower FSH level will make the difference this time, and it might be something worth talking to your consultant about and getting checked (though you may have to go private for it to be treated if your level is over 2.5). Good luck! x

@RoseGoldLove didn't want to read and run but saw you mentioned potential low progesterone? Vit B6 would be recommended in that case. I'd also say to start on the ubiquinol. You mentioned pregnacare but that is really basic and often in low doses. E.g. it has 10mg of B6 but to increase progesterone the recommended is between 200-800mg.

I would perhaps add BBT tracking to your monitoring as well as low progesterone would show up as lower than expected temps in the LP so would help you confirm that. Please don't assume egg health is good just because you're 31 either - definitely start on ubiquinol in the meantime.

Please go back to the GP and ask for more tests - they should be able to see if you have low progesterone levels, as well as test for AMH/FSH/oestradiol etc. Otherwise you can order those tests yourself from letsgetchecked.com.

Thank you @kell2126 and @Juno231- I really appreciate your help!

I've ordered this morning the prep for pregnancy blood test from Medichecks which I think is very similar to the one on letsgetchecked.com. I've also spoken to the GP today and managed to get a Progesterone blood test organised. Baby steps (excuse the pun!) but still moving forward so trying to be positive.

I had an appointment yesterday with a Private fertility clinic who suggested that I need to do £3.5k of tests! Will cross that bridge when I get to it but will try to get these tests out the way first and in the meantime hope for a miracle.

Wishing you all the best also @kell2126 for this pregnancy. Please keep us updated and here if you want to chat at all. Like I said above, trying to get pregnant can feel like such an isolating process. One of my friends this morning sent a scan picture (which turned out to be a joke pic of a liver - making reference to the pubs opening but all under the guise that this was a pregnancy announcement) and it really just broke my heart. Yet, I feel like I can't be honest and say anything.

Thank you both again! Super helpful! Will look into ubiquinol now. xxx

Juno231 · 02/07/2020 16:32

@RoseGoldLove ah I'm glad they got the ball rolling on tests finally! £3.5k sounds like a rip off considering you should be able to do a lot of it on the NHS (unless it's secondary infertility I think?) so def hold off on that!

Let us know how things progress, I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you in the meantime xx
