Advice please - flying when pregnant

Hi all,

I need some advice please.

So my and my partner decided we'd like to start trying for a baby next year, which I literally can't wait for (I've wanted a baby for years and years).

His sister recently got engaged and is planning the wedding in Spain for September 2021, so we already delayed the baby making so that I'd be able to fly as I'm a bridesmaid.

So we decided to start TTC in March, according to my Flo app I am ovulating the first week of March 2021, this will most likely change though won't it? Period being a day late here and there etc.

My question is basically asking, what are the guidelines around flying when pregnant? I've literally been wishing for a baby for so long and now that we're both ready the thought of delaying even more really upsets me.

Sorry - I know that was long winded. Advice welcome please xx

And sorry I forgot to add... this is all providing I fall pregnant straight away which in my opinion is unlikely!

Hi @sunflowersaremyfav93

You can fly quite late into pregnancy, though it depends on the airline, up to 37 weeks with a letter from gp, if all is well.

The risks are small and are much less for shorthall. See nhs link below.

I flew 9 hours return to LA 5 months pregnant. The doctor gave me exercises to do on the flight, as a precaution against clots. No problems at, except for flying a crap airline!

That's brilliant! UK to Spain is only a few hours, when I did a google search I saw a few old threads on here saying that people were questioned at the gate etc despite having a letter from midwife.

Just had a look at the link you sent, that's really reassuring. And this is all providing I fall first time which seems like doesn't really happen.

Yes I think airlines are a bit on edge about it...they basically don’t want you to go into labour on board!

A letter from doc probably better than midwife. If you do get PG, I would research/ring airline before booking to see what their policy is.

It is good to think about these things, but yes I wouldn’t let it stop you!
