Jaydess Coil Removed - how do I know when to get pregnant?

Hi everyone,

I have gotten my Jaydess coil removed on the 22nd May, 2020. My nurse told me to start trying for a baby straight away which is great. But HOW am I supposed to know when to test/when I'm ovulating to try and work out dates etc. She told me not to wait until I get my period to just start trying and now I'm getting frustrated because I've no dates to go by!! I've looked up so much online and everything is "the date of your last period". Has anyone else been in the same position as me? I'd love to hear.

Thanks so much!

I was told I could as well I just waited until I got my first period to then start counting dates.

The changes of it happening first month are relatively slim I think but you never know xx

I think generally they say give your body one period before starting to try as the coil thins the lining of the walls so it's harder for implementation and so higher risks of miscarriage. Wait a month and see whether your body adjusts and then start trying

I think lots of people are in the same position as you as they come off of various birth control methods. I came off of the combined pill when TTC and had no idea when to take my first HPT because I had no idea when I would first ovulate.

On average a period arrive 14 days after ovulation - unless you're pregnant of course. So if you did start trying to track ovulation then that would help you along with respect to when to take a HPT/expect your period to arrive.

Personally I just waited until 28 days after my withdrawal bleed and then did a HPT every few days until my first period arrived. On the next cycle I assumed it might be long so didn't test until after 30 days (although I can't remember exactly when I tested). I conceived on that cycle but didn't know exactly when I conceived until I had my dating scan - it turned out I'd ovulated around CD20-21 which is quite late so I must have been having a long cycle. Which is unsurprising given that it was only my second cycle since coming off of birth control.

I always recommend DTD every other day while trying to conceive - that way you don't need to track anything and you stand a good chance of falling pregnant. Then just do a HPT every few days/once a week once you're 28 days post contraception removal/after the first day of your last period.

Thank you to all who replied to me! You are all so good thanks so much.
It can be all very complicated trying to work it all out and reading different things on line! My coil has only been out 16 days I think - I just have no patience and want it all done yesterday!! I think I will wait again until the 28th day post-removal and see how it goes.

Thanks again for all the replies! xx
