Struggling to get pregnant

Currently TTC baby two and despite a super easy TTC journey for baby one, we are really struggling with conceiving this time round.

It's heartbreaking to consistently 'know' even a few days after ovulation that I'm not pregnant.

I keep torturing myself with logistics such as 'if I conceive this month then it's this age gap, or I will have a three month old for the key wedding date next year, or there will be this many school years between them, or the new baby will be here before toddlers x'th birthday.

I'm just upset and need a rant.

I'm doing all the 'right' things so I'm not even necessarily looking for tips, although they're welcome if people do want to share!

For anyone else struggling, I finally understand. Feel free to join as I wait on the inevitable arrival of AF today or tomorrow...

Name change fail there haha!

@Wrigleys123 - it just becomes a chore after a while doesn't it: ovulation tests, lots of sex and symptom spotting before an unwanted period and start again

I was in the exact same position as you, OP! We TTCed for 2.5 years before getting pregnant with DS, the doctors found problems and so we thought DS was a fluke and never expected to get pregnant again naturally.

I did just that when he was 18 months, right after I'd started a 2 year uni course and we'd put TTC on hold! Had an MMC at 8 weeks but just knowing it was possible was a huge mental breakthrough.

Last August, I was determined to crack it - we had sex every 12 hours for a week (poor DH was exhausted!) so there was no way of missing my fertile window. Absolutely nothing.

Three months later we moved house and I fell pregnant 4 days after moving in - God knows where we got the energy - but TTC was the last thing on our minds. I'm now 7 months gone and look like a beached whale.

I know it's very easy to say, but in my experience it's when you take on a big project that demands all your attention that things happen. Stop thinking about it, stop taking your temperature and if you have a regular cycle, just keep a vague idea of when you usually ovulate. POAS never worked for me at all - just raised my hopes and cost a fortune.

You'll get there. Good luck!!

I'd recommend cutting out sugar, the clear blue fertility monitor and pregnacare conception tablets for both you and DH. Good luck!

I know it’s tough. 2 years in and lm sick of it. I quit the temping, apps and OPK’s. We continue with the every other day sex and supplements. Tests show no issues 4 rounds of Clomid and 1 IVF transfer didn’t lead to anything. We have 3 embryos in the freezer and after that lm done

Thanks so much for all sharing your stories and allowing me to have a bit of a wallow.

I know in the grand scheme of TTC I'm not in any real hardship and I do have faith we will conceive. I just thought I'd be checking out on maternity this month or next. Not staring down another new packet of tampons.

It's really helped to hear the tips and advice given and also know the grief it also brings.

I hope we all get our happy endings soon!

Im also struggIng ttc baby number 2
Its been almost 3 years.. sadly had two missed miscarriages at 9 weeks and just dont understand what could be happening i feel like its affecting my mental health now. I had my dd which took almost 2 years actively trying and just feels like n#2 isnt happening. I have been to doctors but they dont seem to take me seriously been waiting for a scan date for the past two months now still nothing. Praying you get the good news sending hugs c

Hi,

I'm in a similar boat, had first baby no problem at all after thinking it could take ages!

Now actively trying for 2nd and not getting very far. Had an MMC last year in November and cycle has been all over the place since then. Opks show positive ov but not a sniff of a bfp yet unfortunately.

Contacted gp surgery today so should be getting a call back in the next couple of days (fingers crossed)

I am over 35 now though so I realise that time is not on my side.

I'm taking CoQ10 for egg quality, vit C, folic acid/vit D, and floradix for iron / B vits.

I also have a lot of stress and crap sleep so that no doubt isn't helping, but unfortunately don't have much control over that at the moment.

Rant away, happy to listen, although I am rubbish at replying Blush

After my mmc i noticed i didnt get a p for almost 6 months but eventually evened out again and became regular. Fingers crossed gp will help with some answers for you sending hugs to you.
Also have over active thryiod that appeared after my first i think thats what is slowing the process down not sure, but been remission so should be ok it is so stressful. make sure gp gets blood test just to double check everything is ok. Try not to stress i know its harder said than done xx
