When will I ovulate on a 56 day cycle?

As the question says really! Sorry if it's a silly question but just looking for some advice. I have PCOS, been on metformin for a while now and it has regulated my periods, in the sense that now I do get them often. Only problem is, I have 56 day cycles on average, so they're very long but regular. My cycles were 100+ days previously so I'm quite proud of my body for 56 day cycles 😂

Anyway, my question is, if you have a 56 day cycle, when do you normally ovulate? Do you normally ovulate/have you had it confirmed? I'm worried that long cycles might mean a lack of ovulation...

I've bought the OvuSense and I'm using it now so only time will tell I suppose, just wanted to see if anyone had any advice! Thank you! X

Hi, I'm currently on day 58 (I think) and I ovulated between 8 and 12 days ago.
I'm also using an OvuSense sensor but didn't use it for around 4 nights as I thought AF was on her way.
She wasn't so it kinda buggered up when the OvuSense thought I had ovulated.
It's a great piece of kit to have, hope u get on well with it x

So the luteal phase, the time between ovulation and period starting, is generally between 12-17 days and usually around 13. It also tends to remain the same every cycle. The time between period ending and next ovulation, known as the follicular phase, is what can be erratic and leads to longer or inconsistent cycles.

If you are reliably having 56-day cycles, then you will be ovulating roughly two weeks before your period arrives.

Around 14* that should have said

It's entirely possible to ovulate with long cycles, and if you are reliably having bleeding every month that's a good sign. You can bleed every month and it not be a period, more like a withdrawal bleed if you haven't ovulated, but the fact you are having regular bleeds is a good sign that you are ovulating.

I'd really recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It teaches an understanding of your menstrual cycle and how to recognise ovulation through your body's signs.
