Hi everyone ☺️

Hoping you can point me in the right direction. I'm currently 7/8DPO and hoping to start testing on the 11th. I've got 2 x CB digitalis but want to get some cheaper tests and have a fair few in so I can double check and check line progression etc. This will be my first time testing.

I've been looking at everything on Amazon and every test I look at has claims of false positives including FRERs. The idea of getting a false positive terrifies me. Can anyone recommend good tests that they have had experience with?

Thanks x

FRERs have always been accurate for me.

MintGreenLife · 06/06/2020 20:36

Thanks ☺️ Maybe I'll jusr trust them and buy a few other brands to double check. I was planning on using a cheaper option and if I'm getting positives checking with a CB. Do you just use FRERs, or perhaps some of the super cheap strip tests also? Thanks again for replying x

This exact question was asked yesterday. I'll see if I can find it.
I've heard that 'home tests' or something similar from B&M are good.

I was using 'One step' cheapies from ebay/amazon for years. I sweared by them till I was actually pregnant! They are supposed to check hCG to 10iu/ml, same as FRER, BUT, they were incredibly slow to show up and very faint. Yes, I know its to do with urine concentration, but even at 7 weeks pregnant and after a HB on a viability scan, it was still faint. They also had a batch expiring in OCT this year which were complete duds and only showed negative.

I'm now looking at another brand too.

FRERs are the only ones I’d buy. Clearblue Digital’s are the least sensitive tests so generally don’t show till much later

MintGreenLife · 06/06/2020 20:38

@Elouera that's interesting, I looked at those on Amazon too but every single one I look at says stuff about false positives. Maybe I'll just try FRERs this month and have my CB digitalis as a backup if I do get a second line x

@BuffaloCauliflower I'll stock up on FRERs then ☺️

Where does everyone get them from? I was going to get them off Amazon but lots of reviews go on about false positives and possible fake tests/not genuine FRERs x

I’ve always bought from Amazon, no issues herw

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/06/2020 20:42

I used FRERs, CB earlies and Femometer strips (came with my OPKs). All worked well for me. Only positives when I was actually pregnant.

I got a faint positive on a Freedom test when I was 100% not pregnant so I always avoided those.

MintGreenLife · 06/06/2020 20:43

Awesome thanks everyone, I'll go with FRERs then 👍🏼🤞🏼

The best way to avoid false positives is not to test too early 😊

MintGreenLife · 06/06/2020 20:56

Thanks @MGee123 if I test on the 11th I'll be 12DPO, but maybe I best wait until day AF is due which is the 13th x

If you're looking for cheapie stripes I have a lot of time for poundstretcher ones. Picked up in a hurry very early, showed positive well before period, and DH then bought me loads so I could check line progression which worked really well.

MGee123 · 06/06/2020 21:11

I think the general suggestion is to wait until day after AF is due (easier if you have regular cycles otherwise can be tricky). Good luck 🤞😊

Isthisfinallyit · 06/06/2020 21:27

Even when you're pregnant early respons test are only 80 % accurate IIRC. So I always waited for 14 or 15 dpo. Otherwise you just keep wondering and testing.

lucyrp · 06/06/2020 21:32

FRERS are 6.3 sensitivity where as most other are 10 or more

MintGreenLife · 06/06/2020 21:34

@LimpLettice I did wonder about getting some cheapy ones to check line progression. All new to me so still learning ☺️

Thanks @MGee123 @Isthisfinallyit maybe I'll leave it a bit longer then x

@MintGreenLife I use cheap one step ones from amazon and if they show anything, then I test with FRER. I've done a lot of testing over the years and FRERs have always been reliable. In fairness I've never had an EVAP in the one steps but they can be so faint it's barely visible at first. This time I tested at 11dpo (I wouldn't advise this but I have a short luteal period so that's actually when I'm due on). Got a very faint line on a one step. Then took a FRER which confirmed the result. I waited another 4 days until 16 dpo to use a clear blue digital which said Pregnant 1-2. I always buy my tests from amazon and never had a problem.

peachypetite · 07/06/2020 07:43

Know it’s easier said than done but there is no point doing multiple tests and getting your hopes up from too early on. Wait until your period is due at least and do a frer.

MintGreenLife · 07/06/2020 10:35

@Literaryseed @peachypetite thanks for the tips ☺️
