LH surge one week after ovulating...?

I’m confused... but that happens a lot! 🤯

I’ve been tracking and ovulated last Saturday. I tested again on Sunday and there was no line which suggests that was that for this months I’m not sure why but I just did another ovulation test and although the line isn’t as dark as the test line, it’s definitely there (which suggests there’s an LH surge according to the box). Any idea why that would be?
Thanks in advance

I don't know a huge amount about OPKs but I found this on Premom

premom.com/blogs/how-to-use-ovulation-tests/surges-and-peaks-gradual-onset

Effectively for some people they get multiple surges (that would look like positives) in a single cycle. Normally the last surge (the one you're currently seeing) is the one that actually precedes ovulation. I would recommend testing twice daily for the next couple of days in the same way you would if you were expecting ovulation to occur. Also DTD in the same way that you would if you were expecting ovulation in the next couple of days.

Good luck!

If it's not as dark as the test line then it's negative. LH fluctuates in the body all the time so it's normal to see a second line even when you are not ovulating. Also, many women get high LH levels just before their period comes so it could be leading to that.

*not as dark as the control line

Also remember ovulation happens 12-36 hours after the positive opk, so if it was positive on Saturday then you more likely ovulated on Sunday/Monday.

You can also get a positive OPK when you are pregnant......on a molecular level LH and Hcg are very similar and the tests cant distinguish between the two

Curiosity101 · 05/06/2020 23:37

@ivfgottostaypositive I considered that too - but the OP would be 4/5 DPO so it's impossible to be picking up HCG at this point.

I've had this this cycle too (chart attached). I decided to stop testing when my LH levels seemed to be staying down, so I missed a day, then out of curiosity I tested again and they had gone back up 5 days after my peak! I suspect they may have been higher the day before had I tested x

What was the outcome of this in the end? Were you pregnant?

TaYtAy89 · 12/01/2021 19:26

I’ve been trying to conceive for 6 months. I know I have a short luteal phase, it’s usually 10 days. To lengthen this I’ve been taken vitamin B 6 (taken for 1 month) and Casta Angus (4 months) which has increase it by 1-2 days. This month the ovulation stick turned positive day 13 of my cycle which is the earliest it’s ever been. I thought this may be down to the Vitamin B. However the ovulation test was positive again day 16 which is around the time I normally ovulate so I was already a bit confused. It stayed positive till day 17. We are now on the evening of day 19 and it is positive again. The line is very very dark, and I checked with an ap and it’s definitely positive. Any idea what might be causing this? I’m very confused. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi and so I signed up to post this to you all… www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1126506/. Research done by Canadians showed 57 out of 60 women tested ovulated twice or more in the month!! X
