Nightsweats before AF- late 20s TTC #1

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced or can shed some light on this. I'm 27.

Basically a couple of days before I'm due AF I , most months get nightsweats which goes when AF starts.

I'm regular and most things I'm reading says early menopause but some say PMS symptoms.

I always get breast tenderness also.

I know I may need to get my FSH levels checked but just looking to see if anyone has the same.

TTC #1 so it's a bit scary!

I have this and have had it for many years, it was one of the ways I could tell my period was about to arrive (I am 34). I had issues conceiving baby number 2 and was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure when I had my LH/FSH levels tested at the GP (age 32 at the time). However, I went on to conceive baby number 2 the same month the GP told me this. I now have the coil fitted but still have night sweats and have them a lot more often so definitely think in my case it is a sign of early menopause.

However, it is unusual to be pre-menopausal at your age so I wouldn't worry too much, the night sweats are probably just a PMS symptom, but it may be worthwhile getting your FSH/LH levels checked at the GP. Although the GP probably won't do this unless you have been TTC for a while.

@thisyeargoodyear thank you so much for your reply!

I think I might just go privately to get it checked to save me the worry and the waiting.

Each month I always get PMS symptoms so I'm hoping it's to do with that. I never get it any other time.

Thank you for sharing your story, everything is so overwhelming and obviously googling doesn't help one bit!

@SalG93 I think it's always good to rule things out so if you can go private for the tests, I would, even if just for peace of mind. There are a few places that offer a package of fertility tests that I thought about using - various blood samples and scans to check things like ovarian reserve, ovulation etc., but we decided not to go down this route and lived in hope that everything would be ok (which it was, eventually after a long tough journey!).

One thing I would say is try and not obsess about every symptom (says me who did exactly this!) as you spend your life second guessing everything and it's not good for your state of mind.

Good luck in your TTC journey.

SalG93 · 03/06/2020 19:54

@thisyeargoodyear it does drive you crazy! But I try my best to try not to stress as that probably doesn't help.

I already had a Fertility 'MOT' but they only checked AMH levels and did a scan. So I will try get specifically for FSH.

With everything going on in the world at the moment I hope it's not going to be difficult!

I had a stage of having night sweats..most often just before my period but at other times of the month as well. I am 31

Like you I could only find information about peri menopause and freaked out.

I went to the GP and they did a range of tests including FSH and estrogen which were normal. My periods were and are still regular.

The last 2 months-no sweats!

I wonder if I was stressed without realising it or at the time I was a little underweight and exercising a lot...i got no answers from my Gp. Hoping they stay away from now though (or until I reach an appropriate time for menopause).

SalG93 · 03/06/2020 20:46

@Dixie17 it's hard isn't it because everyone is so
different but I'm glad your results were normal!

I am a little underweight but I eat so much but can't seem to put anything on!

I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks so it could be that!

When TTC you think it's simple but then when researching there's so many things to know about!

OP posts:
Dixie17 · 03/06/2020 21:08

At one stage I was going to bed so worried I would wake up sweating-that anxiety definitely didn’t help!

I’m ttc #1 too..this is month 7 so I am a little worried and tend to think I have every possible thing wrong with me! But I am thankful the sweats have seemed to stop for now.

I hope yours do too...worth seeing the gp for a bit of piece of mind (or answers). I was told it could possibly be anaemia as well.

SalG93 · 03/06/2020 21:33

@Dixie17 thank you for sharing, it really does help talking to others and hearing their stories!

Im on month #9 at the moment, I hope it'll be our month soon Smile

Will try to sort some tests out to see what's (or if) anything is going on otherwise my mind is going to keep racing at 100 miles per hour.

I get this, husband can tell instantly when I'm due my period as apparently I super heat just before. I've conceived two children with no problems and I'm in my 30s.

I also get very sore breasts and hideous PMS (I get actual rage and it's terrifying).

I also get bad period pains.

SalG93 · 04/06/2020 05:32

@AlphaDalpha thank you for sharing!!

It's also an indicator for me too on top of the sore boobs but most of the time I get sore boobs after ovulation right up until AF or like a week before.

Yes I also get really bad PMS symptoms! And I also get bad periods so maybe there's a connection!?

If you don't mind me asking, did you get any of the same symptoms when you got your BFP?

OP posts:
RobinRose · 04/06/2020 08:19

@SalG93 I could have written your posts! I’m 27 In a couple of weeks, on month 9 TTC and also get night sweats a couple of days before af! The sore boobs after ovulation until af! Oh, and hideous period pains 😑

Hope you get your BFP very soon 🤞

SalG93 · 04/06/2020 08:25

@RobinRose it's reassuring to hear people have been experiencing the same!

It's so hard because who knows what we will be feeling when we do get our BFP. I hope you get yours soon!!Grin

PMS is very draining and makes you over analyse every feeling.

I've been to so many doctors about the pain and the heaviness and they can't seem to find anything. I'm trying this month to cut out gluten to see if that helps.

OP posts:
RobinRose · 04/06/2020 09:14

@SalG93 I agree PMS is very draining! I don’t think I’d find it so bad not getting a BFP if I didn’t get the pains and the migraines every month! I have been taking supplements for a few months now and I feel as if my periods are not as (sorry tmi!) clotty as they were? Still on the heavy side but I don’t think as bad? I had to take tablets a few years ago before of the clots and heaviness! have had numerous scans (for various things) and none have flagged anything so I think we’re just unlucky! Haha yes all my pms symptoms are the same as pregnancy symptoms so there’s really no point in my symptom spotting 😂

SalG93 · 04/06/2020 09:26

@RobinRose I think supplements probably have helped a lot due to the vitamins.

I've only started vitamins properly the last two months so hoping I see some change!

Yes the clots are the worse and it's so draining each month because of the pain and the heaviness!

I hope your AF starts to get better and better each month for you and hopefully you won't have to go through it for long when you get your BFP Smile

RobinRose · 04/06/2020 10:35

@SalG93 I feel for you, I really do! None of my friends seem to have the issues I do around af so nice to talk to someone else who understands! My hot water bottle is my best friend when af arrives 😂

I hope the vitamins your taking give you some relief soon!

I hope you don’t have to wait too long either! 🤞(I’m also TTC #no.1!)
