PCOS - after baby no1

Last week I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid and PCOS.

We’ve been trying for 2 years for number 2 and I’m aware there are some fertility drugs to help those with PCOS.

Does anyone know if the treatment is available if you’ve only just been diagnosed but already have a child?

Thanks

Yes I had treatment. I've had clomid, unfortunately it didn't work. I'm now on metformin. And also waiting for ovarian drilling. There are a number of options but I believe ivf is not an option as it's a second child.

Trying baby no2 here. Metformin from my GP and offered 3 rounds of clomid from fertility clinic after GP referred us again. As it's our second baby, despite needing clomid the first time, we don't get anything else beyond that on the NHS.

@cosmo30 @YouBoggleMyMind that’s really interesting to hear.

I thought they’d say no because we already have a daughter together.

Ladies, you’ve given me a bit of reassurance that I needed. I’m under a specialist at the hospital at the moment, for an overactive thyroid and now PCOS.

It really depends on the area you're in. Even with our DS, we could only have 1 round of IVF if it came to it, whereas others offered 3. Some offer more for secondary infertility than others.
Id defo be getting some tests done and/or being referred on to the fertility clinic to see what they can do for you. Particularly as it has already been 2 years. Good luck.

@YouBoggleMyMind hospital thinks that both my conditions relate to the delay in getting pregnant. I need to take lots of meds for the thyroid so that means I won’t be able to try for a baby from 3-6 months 👎🏻

Ah that's really tough. However getting your thyroid function right is really important and like you say, it might be the thing getting in the way. Here's to a quick 3-6m 🤞🏻
