Good morning ☀️

Has anyone experienced bacterial vaginosis while TTC? I have some of the Canesbalance gel to use but have read not to use if TTC? Can I use this if it’s outside my fertile week? Also how do I stop it from coming back?

Hi, I thought I had BV (and even went to the GP and told him my symptoms and he prescribed me antibiotics). After 3-4 months of it coming back (always around my fertile week as well Hmm) I decided to go to the sexual health clinic to get it looked into further. They took a swab and told me it was actually thrush!! I don't know if that is helpful but I would say definitely make sure you've had a swab to double check what's causing the symptoms you have. I was worried that it would affect my ability to get pregnant but I was still having mild thrush symptoms the month I fell pregnant Smile (4th cycle of trying). If you're still wondering about the gel, I think it's absolutely fine to use outside your fertile window. Hope this helps!

You can absolutely treat it when ttc and pregnant. Ive been prescribed the gel antibiotics by the dr this week and told her I was ttc and breastfeeding (hence getting the gel instead of tablets). I think the canesteen gel is different as it changes the environment of your vagina (i think by changing the ph?) rather than antibiotics which can have a more lasting effect. Dr also told me to look after myself (diet, alcohol etc) as mild infections can clear up on their own.
