Hi all
Newbie here!! After some advice regarding vitamins. I know that the NHS recommend folic acid 3 months pre and post conception however I have been taking the Boots Conception vitamins but they give me horrendous waves of nausea!! I always try to take on a full stomach and it doesn’t do it everyday! I got a few weeks left of the ones I have and definitely not buying anymore of them but don’t want to go without as just started TTC..anyone else experienced this/ got any advice?
Thanks Smile

You could take folic acid on it's own. Although vitamin D is also recommended

Could you maybe give the Seven Seas "trying for a baby" ones a go?

They are a bit cheaper too.

Thanks. I’ll have a look at both of those options! Don’t want to be without the crucial vitamins yet the nausea is awful!!

I had the same and it only got worse with morning sickness! Take a really good multi it with folic acid, vit e and d and omega three before conception for 3 months to build up your reserves, then switch to taking folic acid everyday and a pregnancy one every couple of days and make sure your diet is healthy. Good luck!

Thanks for that advise, good idea to take a pregnancy one every few days! Don’t want to miss out on the other vitamins! Managed 2 months on these ones, had nausea all along but it has just got worse all of a sudden!
Looking forward to the morning sickness Confused haha

Also make sure your partner does the same to get his health in top condition. Sperm are actually made 80-90 days before they, er, come out of the body, so his health now will be important in three months. Me and my partner did this and had 3 months of prioritising our health, sleep and fitness (still had a bit of fun, a drink or two and the usual life stress too) but we conceived quite quickly and I’m sure that played a part. I also had a very restful week the week the embryo implanted as we were on holiday and I’m sure that contributed positively.

Re morning sickness... you might be lucky and not get it, but it does go away eventually. Wishing you the best

I’ve started taking Seven Seas trying for a baby first time this month. AF is due today but yet to arrive. I have been feeling rather nauseous and yesterday felt so sick with a heightened sense of smell but not sure if that’s the tablets or lack of sleep as I’ve been struggling with that the last fees days. After taking the tablets I did read mix reviews that It did delay some people’s cycles but then some swear by them so not sure what to think x

SK2970 · 19/05/2020 13:59

@littlejalapeno that’s a good point! DH all on it with vitamins but we aren’t so good on the rest front! Both in stressful jobs and I struggle with anxiety!
Glad it worked for you!! Will definitely bare it in mind as get into our journey!!

@Britannah I had also heard that but I started taking them a few weeks before coming off the pill so can’t say whether it had an affect. Hope you feel better soon, i hate it when AF due, both physically and mentally!! Good luck! Smile

I took Pregnacare for ages and then I switched to Feroglobin and I conceived that month on cycle 13. I recommended them to my friend who had been TTC for over a year and she also conceived the first month after starting taking them.

Britannah · 19/05/2020 18:10

@SK2970 Thank you! It’s really hard to know what is causing it as I have read so many mixed reviews. If AF hasn’t arrived by the weekend I will take a test just to double check but I would be gobsmacked if we had fallen pregnant C1

@BeingATwatItsABingThing That’s super interesting thank you for sharing Smile

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/05/2020 10:00

No problem @Britannah

It might just be coincidence but I always share it with people I know are TTC in case it works for them too. Smile

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/05/2020 10:02

Meant to add:

They sell Feroglobin in other places too other than Holland and Barrett. I got mine from Asda in the vitamin section.

justkeeprunning5 · 20/05/2020 10:04

I took Zeta West pre conception vitamins. Always took them just before bed to sleep through any side effects (if they were any).

SK2970 · 20/05/2020 20:49

Taking at night might be a good shout! Took it with my evening meal today and haven’t been too bad! Smile

@Britannah how are you doing today? Would be awesome if pregnant C1!

@SK2970 Can’t quite believe I’m writing this but I got my BFP a couple of days ago!! I have no idea whether it was down to the Seven Seas conception tablets or not but I’m gobsmacked. Can it be a coincidence? Feeling very anxious as we suffered a miscarriage last year but have everything crossed that this one will stick and have now moved on to taking Pregnacare vitamins!! Really hope you get your BFP soon xxx

SK2970 · 24/05/2020 19:51

@britannah OMG!! Amazing, congratulations!! Fingers tightly crossed it will all be ok this time! Wishing you well xx
