Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get some opinions. I was wondering if anyone has gotten their BFP and had a successful pregnancy even whilst having spotting throughout their cycle?

I have recently had an op for endometriosis and cysts and I also suffer from PCOS and fibroids. I’ve always had spotting in my cycle but since the op have still been having the same issue. I am getting a bit depressed about what this means for my chances of conception, so am really looking for some hope I guess :(

So, has anyone had the same? Spotting or light bleeding at random times through their cycle and still managed to get pregnant?
Thanks Xx

Hi OP,

I have pcos and my cycles could be anywhere from 17 days to 40 days. I spotted before and after my period and a lot of the time throughout my entire cycle. The cause has never been identified and I could never find anything online for why it may be happening. They did however find that I didn't ovulate so it could be to do with that, so the endocrinologist prescribed clomid and I'm now 11 weeks pregnant after my first cycle.

If you ovulate then I don't think the spotting will affect your chances of falling pregnant, if you don't then there's help there for you so please don't worry!

X

@ineedamiracle2020 Thank you so much for replying! Massive congratulations on your pregnancy, sending you lots of virtual hugs and love :)

That’s really helpful, thank you! I never know if the spotting is a mini period or something else and the gynaecologist didn’t seem too bothered when I mentioned it but I guess he wanted to focus on all the other rubbish I have going on Grin

How can I find out if I’m ovulating or not? And should I now ask my GP for a referral to an endocrinologist for clomid? Or can the gynaecologist prescribe it? Also how long is a cycle of clomid? Sorry for the long list of questions, It’s annoying because there are no clinics due to covid so I’m stuck in limbo after my surgery with a million questions!

Thank you!! Xx

Thanks very much @AmesK ! It really got me down because it started just as we decided to ttc!

I'm in Scotland so I don't know how different it is in your area, but we had to try for a year with no success before they'd refer us to the fertility clinic. They take your bloods to confirm if you've ovulated or not, I'm sure on day 3 of your cycle then day 21!

For me, they advised 5 tablets for my cycle at 50mg of clomid to begin with (which worked for me but for some it needs to be upped to 100 or 150 mg) Started taking on cd 3 and ovulated based on opks and early scan on day 15 or 16! Xx

Aww I’m sorry you were feeling down, trust me, I get that! Wink But I’m super pleased for you and wish you a very healthy and enjoyable pregnancy :)
Again, thanks so much for answering my questions, I’ve just been feeling so lonely about it all recently so your kind words are much appreciated!

Thanks so much for this info! I’m already under a gynaecologist so I guess it’s weird that I haven’t had those bloods done but I’m just waiting for my follow up and then maybe I can suggest them. Even without the whole TTC thing, constant spotting is just horrible bleurgh!

Is clomid something that works for most people? I know that sounds like such a silly question but at this point I’ve got so much rubbish going on that I just cling to every little bit of hope haha
