Tracking ovulation PCOS

TTC baby #2

Started using OPK's to track ovulation, but I'm getting through so so many because my periods are irregular.

Has anyone with irregular periods/PCOS successfully tracked their cycles in any way?

I have absolutely no idea when I'm fertile, and as lovely as the idea of DTD every 2 days is just to make sure, its not always possible with a young toddler and busy days.

Temping with a basal thermometer is the best way with pcos as ovulation sticks can be unreliable

I agree BBT tracking is easiest. The issue of course it it's retrospective and doesn't tell you when to have sex. By the time your temperature shows ovulation it's too late to have sex. Although it does help you know if and when to expect a period so you'll know if you're 'late' or if your ovulation was late.
OPKs are notoriously bad for PCOS. Are your cycle lengths all over the place or are they usually around a similar amount? If they're always say... 30-35days long you could just have sex every three/four days/as often as you can from CD14 onwards?
I wish I had something more helpful to say. PCOS really sucks.

Thank you both.

I've read a bit about thermometers but think I'll have to do more research.

And all over the place, massively. Can range from 30 day cycle to months and months with no period

@2007Millie I just bought one for about £8 on Amazon and use fertility friend to log my temperatures. You need to be able to log at the same time every morning before moving/getting out of bed/talking, after at least three hours sleep. It might be frustrating to do for months with no change if you have a long cycle but it does help to let you know when you can finally expect bfp or AF?
Do you mind if I ask how easy/hard it was to conceive your toddler? You don't have to answer if you don't want 😊

@MrsKin90

Thanks, that's really helpful.

Unfortunately I cannot give you a very good answer because DS wasn't planned Confused All I know is that it took under 18 months as that's how long I was rubbish with taking the pill for (kept forgetting it on the odd day) and we obviously weren't actively trying so we were just DTD as and when we felt like it. Statistically very unlikely to happen and yet it did

@MrsKin90

However, I do think I had a miscarriage after around 6 months of being rubbish with the pill, so potentially I actually conceived twice within 18 months. Never took a pregnancy test for that one, but ended up in hospital fainting from stomach pains and the following day I had the most horrendously heavy period for over a week. From research, I now think it was a miscarriage.

Interesting that it happened when you weren't trying or thinking about it and when you want it it seems a bit of a nightmare!
I'm sorry that you may have experienced a miscarriage. I can't imagine going through one whether a planned pregnancy or not. ☹️
Thank you for responding though 😊 it's so hard to know if these private questions are going to be triggering for people or not but it's good to know how things have gone for others. It always makes me happy to know someone with PCOS has successfully had a baby!
Fingers crossed for you and a bfp soon!

@2007Millie I track mine with both opk and bbt, that gives me a clear view of when ovulation is coming and if it actually happened. Bbt alone will just tell you when you've ovulated, even though opk sometimes is unreliable (I had over 8 days of high lh on opk this cycle..) I just planned dtd in this window until bbt confirmed my ovulation
