Anyone TTC in Autumn?

Waiting till autumn to TTC, mainly because of both me and DH starting new jobs in January so wanting to be eligible for contractual maternity/paternity pay!

Wondering if anyone else is trying in October/November?Smile

It will be our first and I’m unsure whether to come off my pill a month or two earlier (we will use condoms) to learn my cycle and when I ovulate, however I’ve heard you can be extremely fertile as soon as you stop taking the pill (currently on combined hormone pill) Anyone got any advice regarding this?

Not trying this autumn but we started trying in the Sept when I had my little girl. I got pregnant straight away but had been off my pill since the June and we'd used condoms between June and September. I'd definitely recommend doing this if you are bale to and have the time to. It meant I knew my cycle and even took a test a few days before my period was due because I knew exactly when to expect it. Good luck

We started TTC this month and I came off the pill in December and we used condoms, I am SO glad I did as my periods took a good few months to balance out. One cycle was 46 days x

Hello @Wine4Breakfast! DP and myself are planning to try in autumn as well. So glad you are the same, I’m really keen to get going!

This will be our first baby, but DP already has 2 of his own. I have a thyroid problem and hormone imbalance, so planning on trying as soon as we can incase there are any issues :(

I came off the mini pill and it took ages for my cycle to return to normal! It was 6 weeks before I even had a withdrawal bleed! The doctor was stumped. If you can, I’d recommend coming off the pill earlier so your cycle can return to normal before TTC.

I'm hoping to start trying in November for similar reasons to you. Started a new job in January, I also want to get some work on the house finished and some money in the savings first. Plus I've only just started broaching the subject with DH (he's one of those who needs time to come round to an idea, best to plant the seed and wait for him to decide it was his idea Wink)

I came off the pill a couple of years ago and use the Natural Cycles app as contraception. My cycles were like clockwork immediately despite 16 years on hormonal contraception but I'm aware that's not always the case. I don't know about you but I'm impatient for Summer to be over!!

@CraftyGardener this is exactly how I’m feeling! Especially with being kooped up at home all day. Hoping I can return to work soon which may take my mind off the mental countdown to October!

Same here OP we are starting in September, as I will be eligible for much better maternity package from my new job I started in Feb.
I have decided to stop my mini pill when I get my next period, to give a few months to learn my cycle and hopefully give us the best chance of success when the time comes. Like you I was weighing up staying on it incase of that 'extra fertile' thing, but decided I didn't want to risk having to wait another few months for my cycle to regulate.
Good luck to you, it seems so close yet so far, I can't wait!
