OPK weirdness - did I miss the surge?

CD7 of a 25-27 day cycle. I got a strong (not yet positive) line this morning so tested again now and it's gone completely, I had expected it to progress. Did I miss the surge?

I think I usually ov around CD12/13 as tend to get sore boobs in luteal phase.

Anyone else had this?

Yesterday morning I got a negative on both a test strip and digital then that evening I got a ‘high’ on both. I retested 4 hours later at 8pm expecting a peak and got negative on the test strip. But this morning I woke up and with fmu I got peak on both test strip and digital. Maybe ur 12 noon urine was too diluted? I think that’s what happened with me

These opks work better when you test in the afternoon, between 2pm and 10pm is best. I think it's clearblue that you use fmu. I have 25 day cycles and usually get my positive on cd9/10. Try again tomorrow afternoon - I tend to do 2/3 as I get closer to a positive. Good luck.

Maybe it's that - do you avoid drinks for a bit before?

Ah thanks @VenusStarr I'll try again later and see what happens

I had to use those for treatment so I used quite a few and this happened more than once. Basically, you have varying levels of hormones and a darker test isn't always followed by a positive. Nothing to worry about.

That said I always tested twice a day (treatment involved flying to another country so missing the surge was not an option).

I also switched to digital eventually. More expensive but soooo worth it to not have to squint at lines anymore.

@VenusStarr I get positives cd9 so guess I ovulate cd10 as my cycle is short too. 24 days usually. I'm a bit worried about ovulating so early-immature eggs not implanting well etc. Have you been pregnant before? This is our first ttc and it's been 8 months so getting to that worried stage now. I'm 34 too so no spring chicken lol!

VenusStarr · 10/05/2020 17:18

No worries @bicicletta 🤞

Hi @notyetamumbuttrying, I've been pregnant 3 times, but miscarried sadly. I'm under a fertility clinic now as ttc 2.5 years and no-one has expressed concern at early ovulation (I have asked - I'm also now under a recurrent mc clinic and they're not concerned either).
My sister has very short cycles - 21 days and has 2 children, never miscarried and caught relatively quickly, so I don't necessarily think early ovulation is an issue. Good luck :)

@VenusStarr thank you for the reply! I've been getting a bit worried about this so it's great to have those worries alleviated by someone in a similar position. I wish you all the best with ttc and having a healthy pregnancy.

VenusStarr · 10/05/2020 17:38

Thank you :) @notyetamumbuttrying

Thanks @Malysh reassuring to know it's not unusual!
