Me and my DH have been trying to conceive since 1st December last year.

I dont have periods often at all as I have pcos, I last had a period on 29th December and havent had one since.

I finished taking a course of the progesterone tablets to induce a bleed a week ago and they still havent caused me to have a period.

I havent thought about it too much as I was hopeful these tablets would be the start of sorting everything out.

I've just seen a friend announce shes pregnant with twins and I've just sat and cried.

I feel so shit about it all.

I feel your pain. It really hurts.
I have pcos and my cycles were nonexistent.
Progesterone didn't cause me to have a bleed either, but even if it forces a bleed it won't make you ovulate.
I've started having regular cycles for the last three months after going on metformin - could be coincidental but I swear it's helped. I've also been using clear blue ovulation tests so I can pinpoint where I am in a cycle.

Hi lovely,

So sorry to hear that you’re having a really shit time, it’s perfectly understandable and justified for you to have a good cry and want to stream&shout that it’s not fair, because it isn’t fair at all.

I’m not in a similar position so I’m not able to offer any practical support or any shared experiences but I just wanted to reach out and send a hug over the airwaves. X

I know how upset you must feel. Been 3 years this year for me. I have pcos too. Have you spoken about clomid or metformin? I had the tabs to make me bleed, I bled exactly a week after finishing them.

Thanks all, I feel kind of silly because it hasnt been long that weve been ttc but I just think if I'm only having a period once every 5+ months then it's never going to happen

@imhereforthecake thanks, my dr did say when she prescribes them that it was more just to ensure I had a bleed and that it wouldn't really help with anything. She said if she could she would refer me to gynae but they're not accepting referrals with everything going on with covid, which I completely understand.

Thanks @rmac2020 I appreciate it

@cosmo30 not specifically but I have read up on it and my dr did say she will refer me as soon as shes able to. I actually nearly cried when I spoke to her on the phone when she prescribed me the progesterone as she was so nice and I felt really listened to. At a previous doctors I was at I said I was having very irregular periods only around 3 times a year and the (male) doctor laughed and joked "from what i hear women prefer having less periods" Sad

Terrible that is, so unprofessional aswell!!

I know all too well how hard it is to keep positive and feeling actually gutted when other people share baby news. But just try to stay postive, and give yourself something to look forward to for when lockdown ends... a referral for treatment! I have pcos and first thing they did was put me on clomid, it didn't work unfortunately, but now I'm on metformin and it does seem to be regulating my cycles. There are options

Sadaboutttc · 08/05/2020 17:13

@cosmo30 thank you, glad to hear you're getting somewhere with metformin!

Well I just started my period so that explains why I was so upset out of the blue yesterday, looks like the progesterone did work in the end!
