Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

When can you be certain a negative test is correct?

Because I am still breastfeeding my 10 month old, I haven't had a period since before I was pregnant with her. DH and I decided to not use any contraception, and if I got pregnant then great, and if not then also fine as we were aware that it was unlikely unless we happened to get the timing right just before my period was going to come back.

Anyway, due to CV, lockdown, job insecurity etc we've decided now wouldn't be a good time so we've started using contraception again. I know the date we last had unprotected sex - how long after that do you think I can guarantee that a negative test is actually negative (obviously a false positive would be much less likely, and realistically being pregnant isn't likely anyway). Two weeks after is probably a bit soon to be certain, would three weeks be ok? I don't want to keep testing but equally don'twant to assume it's negative too early and then end up not finding out until I'm much further along.
