So I'm look for some positive advice, rather than the millions of horror stories google brings up!
We have a BFP on the 12th and today marks 5 weeks... I have 2 worries...
One: Miscarriage
I know these forums are world wide, but when you read them it seems like every single person has had one or multiples. Oh my days. It's enough to make me lay in bed for 12 weeks.
I've had a look and the UK the rate of known pregnancies (Not chemical/get a BFP (big fat positive)) is 25% at 4 weeks; 5% at 8 weeks; 1.7% at 12 weeks and 0.5% at 16 weeks.
More than 80% of miscarriages occur within the first 12 weeks. NHS states that it's 1 in 8 - which is 12.5% of all people that get a BFP.
Was seen at EPU 5 days ago as I had left sided tummy pain. I had a scan and bloods. HCG is 113 and scan is as it should be. My left tummy pain is due to the corpus luteum, the “cyst of pregnancy. It produces the hormone Progesterone and all pregnancies are dependent upon progesterone for the first 10-12 weeks of gestation. My bloods said my Progesterone was 40.5 (which is a very decent amount (10 to 44 ng/mL during the first trimester of pregnancy)
Have another scan on the 27th April and the 6th May and then the 8th June.
Anyone cast humanised perspective on the above information?
As I am still worrying - especially today as I feel rather "out of sorts"
Two: Having Sex.
So I had an abnormal smear in April 2019. 2 Colposcopies and then a LLetz in May 2019. All clear in January 2020.
I had 3 post op infections. 2 which were managed in the community. The third one, the strong intravenous antibiotics voided by POP pill and unknowingly caused a probably miscarriage - we say that as by the time I was admitted the HCG bloods were boarded line...
I'm now worried about having sex during these first few weeks as I know my cervix has had work done to it. Quite frankly between one third and two thirds of the skin covering the cervix had abnormal cells that were removed.
Reading off of Google (Good old Dr Google... I wish we didn't have it sometimes!!) [https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/pregnancy-complications/premature-birth/causes-premature-birth/cone-biopsy-and-lletz]
"Women who had have a cone biopsy or a LLETZ procedure, or any other procedure that involves the removal of cells from the cervix before pregnancy, are at higher risk of having a late miscarriage or premature birth (before 37 weeks).
The level of risk depends on the extent of the procedure that was carried out. Evidence shows that in cases where the excision is more than 10mm, or if more than one procedure has been carried out, then the risk is increased."
I am just wondering from peoples personal experiences that if a Lletz and sex in pregnancy heightens the risk of miscarriage?
Thanks in advance for all your helps!
