I think I'm having a miscarriage...😰

Me and hubby recently decided to TTC. On my last day of ovulation (20th March) we did the deed. 7 days later I noticed my boobs were sore (this lasted a few days) and I also had light brown discharge. At the time I thought this was implantation bleeding but 7 days later it is still happening. The flow got dark and watery, and just now I had a little black rubbery stuff in my pantyliner which I think could be tissue. Im going to do a pregnancy test, as my period is due tomorrow. I just have a bad feeling. Had this happened to anyone else?

Have you recently come off birth control OP? That can make your periods heavier. All the symptoms you've described can be normal period symptoms. There's nothing to suggest a miscarriage necessarily unless you have a positive test.

I think it's the fact that it was over a week before my period was due. And my periods have never been early before. I came off birth control a year ago.

It sounds more like an unusual cycle than anything else and your period just came early.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/04/2020 10:46

If your period isn’t even late yet it’s not a miscarriage. There hasn’t been enough time for any tissue to form let alone lose any. It sounds like you’ve just had an unusual cycle - even very regular women can differ around the year and at different times

Whyhaveidonethis · 04/04/2020 16:39

No, it's very unlikely to be a miscarriage. You've not had a positive test and have got your period, surely that would be your first impression, not that you're having a miscarriage?

Kk868686 · 04/04/2020 17:20

Wow, there's no need to be rude.
I've had a miscarriage before and the symptoms were more similar to that than any period I've ever had. That's why I thought that.

I think miscarriage is the wrong word OP. Chemical pregnancy perhaps.

MoonW · 04/04/2020 17:45

@Kk868686 I don’t think anyone was trying to be rude OP, but sometimes it is difficult to get across tone on an online post.

As others have said, it’s much more likely to be an unusual period - our bodies go through so much each month and occasionally will behave abnormally without obvious reason.

I’m sorry that this cycle hasn’t been successful for you and know the disappointment that can bring, I’m also TTC and AF arrived a week early 4 days ago, but I’m sure the new few weeks will go by quickly before it’s time to try again 🙂

I hope you’re ok OP. I don’t know the length of your cycles to know what’s going on. It’s hard to say if you’re having a MC if you haven’t had a positive test but I’m sorry this wasn’t your cycle.

Maybe start your own thread @Lucinda94 If I was OP and either having a MC or AF arrived, I wouldn’t necessarily want someone to respond with a pic of their positive pregnancy tests in a completely self centred post...

Thats not to minimise what you’re dealing with either, just not appropriate to do it on a thread someone else has started when your post is all about you...

Hey op - I don't want to sound rude/mean but why would you even consider miscarriage if your period isn't even due yet or you haven't taken a pregnancy test?? A miscarriage is more of an early pregnancy thing and a chemical is a pregnancy lost from weeks 4-6ish. You aren't even at 4 weeks yet (if you are pregnant).

I usually get the horrible black/brown rubbery stuff before my period every time. A miscarriage/chemical is usually fresh red blood. As someone that has suffered a chemical (I was only 4+5) it's certainly not something I would even think about until I was certain I was pregnant...

Maybe test and then take it from there.

Hi OP. You’re not far enough along for it to be a miscarriage, but you could well be having a chemical pregnancy. I think the reason a previous poster came across a bit sharp is because miscarriage refers to the loss of a pregnancy from 4/5 weeks at the earliest, and what you’re describing would put you at much less than that, so is referred to as a chemical pregnancy.

Having had 2 miscarriages (one at 6 weeks and one at 9 weeks) plus a few chemical pregnancies, I don’t think what you’re describing sounds like either. To me, it sounds like implantation bleeding that’s lasted a while or potentially cervical irritation, a weird cycle or yes, possibly a chemical pregnancy but I think that’s the least likely.

Be reassured though that it’s such early days that you wouldn’t have any tissue or visible signs of a miscarriage at this point, it would just be a heavier period in my experience. For most of them I’ve only known I was having a chemical pregnancy because I’ve had an odd period and tested out of curiosity and found a faint positive.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, TTC is such an awful time Flowers
