Anybody else taking this? What dose?

Any success stories would be nice too!

My infertility clinic told me there is no evidence it works and not to take it. They did suggest dhea though for egg quality

bingbangbing · 24/02/2020 09:13

Dhea?

Did they say why you shouldn't take it?

I take it @bingbangbing. Only just started it though and I am taking 300mg a day, split into 2 doses, 100 in the morning and 200 in the evening.

I think you can take up to 600mg but this is recommended for IVF.

Sorry to sound vague about it. I’ve started reading it starts with the egg but someone recommended Ubiquinol to me.

MelAndShoe · 25/02/2020 07:05

@bingbangbing she just said it doesn't work.

bingbangbing · 25/02/2020 07:53

She said she was told not to take it, just wondering why.

There is some evidence that it may help in IVF, older mothers (I'm 39) in particular:

Ah right I get you- so they didn't say it was harmful just that they didn't get think it would actively help. I'll give it a go tho- worth a shot!

DHEA isn't recommended for egg quality at all

If you take it when you don't need it it can actually adversely affect ovulation and reduce egg quality as it is a testosterone based hormone

It's only really for those that don't have very many eggs

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 25/02/2020 08:30

I take it 200mg twice a day. If you read it starts with the egg there is evidence it can help with egg quality particularly if you are older and your egg quality may be declining. I think it is recommended in IVF so that you can maximise your chances of good quality eggs but as I understand it there's no reason that couldn't apply to natural conception either.

DHEA can also apparently help with egg quality but can also cause a lot of problems if you do t need it so you should always get your levels checked first.
