Feeling down after first appointment

I need to have PGD IVF for a genetic condition, wanted to book in my first appointment to discuss treatment. I explained the situation to the receptionist and asked her to ask the doctor to read my notes before booking an appointment as the condition is quite complex and rare.

She called back to say he had and to book in the appointment, I double checked with her that he was the best person to see and she confirmed he was.

The earliest appointment was in 3.5 weeks, I agreed and I was just glad to speak to the right person.

Went this morning and he had no idea why I was even there so I had to re-explain it all and he read the notes as I was sat there and he just said I will write to a different doctor.

Now I have to wait 2 weeks for the other doctor to reply and about another 3 weeks for an appointment with them. Just feel like the process takes long enough and even when you try to be proactive and helpful it's a waste of time. Eurrrrggghh!!

Ah @WonkyGenes it’s so annoying isn’t it! I really feel for you! We trust them to get it right for us and provide a good standard of care and it’s so soul destroying when you’ve psyched yourself up to get some help and then have to wait even longer because of someone’s incompetencies. Lots of hugs for you ❤️

I asked for a referral to infertility after six months of trying as I already knew that one of my ovaries wasn’t functioning properly due to having previous scans and tests when I was younger to find out why my cycles were so irregular. My GP was awful and kept saying it was my fault as I was too stressed 🙄 Finally got a referral after 14 months and when I had my first appointment they said they couldn’t do anything as my doctor hadn’t arranged any of the initial tests (up to date bloods, scans, HSG etc). Wasted another few months waiting to have those and have finally been given metformin and clomifene by the consultant at the fertility clinic and have confirmed what I already knew- I don’t ovulate. Doctor was surprised as I “don’t fit the profile for PCOS” meaning my BMI is normal and I don’t have hirsutism. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Currently 18 months in and hoping it will happen for me soon!
