Hi all,
Thought i would i would come on and see if anyone could cheer me up or make me feel a but better about things...
Me and my partner are ttc and we went to an nhs based fertility about 4/5 yrs ago an we had all the tests ect and the next step was ivf but they told me i had to loose weight. I was young (ish) and had my stubborn head in and i didnt loose the weight.
Fast forward to yesterday and i asked my dr to re refer me again to the fertility clinic. He looked at my letters and took my weight and basically said they would reject me point blank coz i have put more weight on since 5 yrs ago. He said u had to be a maximum 12 an half stone ive never been that in my life! I am currently 16 stone. Struggling to loose the weight.
Someone ever been through the same as me or can just send me some happy thoughts?
My friends are telling me to go abroad for ivf for look further a field - outside of Leeds

Do you have polycystic ovarian syndrome @25BeckiT ?

The reason I'm asking is because I know it can make it much harder to lose weight with PCOS. If so there's loads of supplements and diets that can really help you lose the weight. X

I can totally understand your frustration but perhaps you could see this as an opportunity to get your weight down for the long term benefit of your own health, and to maximise your chances of having a child? If you and your partner embark on it together you might find it easier to keep going and there are loads of resources on the internet to help guide weight loss. Things like getting involved in Parkrun or a walking group to increase the amount you exercise might be worth trying too?

You are at much higher risk of miscarriage and pregnancy complications if overweight, even if you did manage to attempt IVF. It might be worth flipping this on its head and taking the challenge to get your weight down? 4 stone is very doable in an 8-10 month timeframe with a really concentrated effort on your diet and exercise regime? Just a thought, no offence meant at all.
