Soy isoflavones

NoseringGirl · 08/02/2020 11:10

Anyone else doing a cycle with soy isoflavones at the moment? Or have success stories?
I'm CD3 and started them last night. Will be doing CD2-6.
I have PCOS and my last cycle was 4 months long with no ovulation. I'd had a few regular cycles before that and hoping soy isoflavones will help me ovulate again!
We've been TTC#3 for nearly 2 years and had 3 early losses. Willing to try anything at this point!

@AnxiousAnnie86

Congratulations *@noseringgirl* I am Starting soy iso today after a year of trying, I'm quite worried about possible side effects, I'm taking as I can ovulate anywhere from cd17 to cd32, anyone else out there trying this month x
Hi, I was on this thread a while ago and have only got round to starting soy. I am on CD 8 and I had taken it from CD3-7. I have not had any side effects. I know some people report of headaches frequently. I have been taking them last thing before bed and I have been fine. Keep me updated and I will let you know how I get on this month too. I've been ttcing for 2 years now.
GreenShades · 28/05/2020 08:49

@NoseringGirl thats so nice to hear! You never get updates again from people so it's glad to hear everything is going well with youSmile

AnxiousAnnie86 · 28/05/2020 08:56

@GreenShades thank you, I'm planning to do same before bed, are you hoping to bring ovulation forward? When does it normally happen? Would you let me know? X

cupcakesandglitter · 28/05/2020 10:52

Ahh @NoseringGirl that's amazing, I'm so happy for you! Do you know what you're having? I'm doing great Thankyou, currently have my 10 week old napping on me!! I can't believe how fast it's flown by, I can't remember being pregnant!

GreenShades · 28/05/2020 11:53

@AnxiousAnnie86 well I don't really track ovulation I have only once in the whole two years of trying with OPKs but I don't want to stress too much about it. I tend to focus on looking at CM and going off that. I also use the Flo App for guidance only. I have unexplained infertility and regular cycles so hopefully it doesn't affect my cycles. I will keep this thread updated, hopefully we get our long awaited bfps!!!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 28/05/2020 12:05

@GreenShades I really really hope it brings it on for you! I have heard such good things! X

NoseringGirl · 28/05/2020 15:03

@cupcakesandglitter oh wow! Congratulations on the birth of your baby!
I don't know what I'm having yet, we haven't decided if we're going to find out! I'm so tempted to wait until the birth but I'm also sooooo curious!

@NoseringGirl thankyou 😊 oh wow I wish I was patient like you 😂😂 I couldn't wait to find out but I can imagine it'd be a lovely surprise to find out at the birth too!

Not sure if this thread is still going but I have spent the last year reading mumsnet chats so thought I should join one myself! I am currently trying second attempt with SI after ttc for 14 months after a missed miscarriage (March 2019) of which I fell pregnant first attempt!
I have had countless blood tests, scans and waiting to speak to my doctor regarding low progesterone 7 days before period begins (repeatedly coming back at 15). I'm confident I ovulate - especially whilst taking SI - my cycle has changed from 35-40days to 28 days on them. Strong ov pains, ew cervical mucus and temp changes. Would be nice to chat with others in a similar boat or trying SI.

AnxiousAnnie86 · 18/06/2020 15:48

@DanyBont16 hey! I took them for the first time this month, went from 32 day ovulation to 19 this month, I'm currently 4/5dpo.... I'm in the same position, this month marks a year of trying, I got pregnant the first month off contraception last year, which was the only month we didn't track everything, unfortunately ended in MC, since then nothing at all!! X

DanyBont16 · 18/06/2020 16:25

It’s been hard ttc for so long after a miscarriage - I’m sure you feel the same way. I literally conceived 2 days after we decided to stop using contraception the first time - I knew nothing about ovulation etc and now 14 months later I’m trying to work out why it’s not happening. Have you had your GP run tests and scans? I have been told nhs won’t do anything until we hit 2 years trying. I always thought after 35 it’s one year but apparently not.

GreenShades · 18/06/2020 17:52

@DanyBont16 hey I saw your messages earlier but was not able to reply. I have heard many good things about soy and even though we are only going off what other people have said about soy I think its worth a shot.

I did try it for the first time this month and I have been ttcing for 2 years now. I use the Flo app not for predicting ovulation but rather to predict periods as it is always accurate. Tomorrow is predicted day of my period starting.

I was going to come back to this thread to update what happens so to help others using soy. Many people start threads but then dont go on to say if it helped or not.

I have to say this month I noticed no EWCM. Normally during the beginning of the cycle I have a lot of CM but nothing when using soy. I have read on other threads that people noticed the same too just like you would if you were using Clomid.

After one year of ttcing and nothing happening at all we went to the Doctor and they did tests and then referral to the hospital. I dont know why your doctor has told you two years!

DanyBont16 · 18/06/2020 18:22

They said under 37 they won’t refer if you haven’t been ttc for two years which I think seems very harsh. It leaves a very small window for fertility treatment if needed. I got fed up and went for a private scan two weeks ago, I have the consultation next week. My partner had his sperm tested last week also and all they said was that everything was normal apart from his sperm morphology which was just below normal. they said was to get it tested again in 3 months. My mum had problems conceiving when she was 27 and was given treatment after 1 year ttc so I guess the NHS has tightened regulations since the 80’s. It is frustrating, I feel like I’m the only one who gives a crap most of the time. I’ve had to push for everything and do so much of my own research and blood tests etc on top of struggling to deal with the miscarriage I had. I spent many months feeling super stressed and angry but I’ve been trying hard to let it wash over me the past few months as I realised it was probably making conceiving harder. Anyway, onwards... I have had a lot of ewcm past couple of days and pain around my ovaries today but I’ve not had a clear surge on the opk. Last night before bed was the darkest so perhaps I missed it in the night. After unpredictable cycles I am starting to just base it on pain/temps now rather than opk’s. Out of interest what area are you? I’m Bristol so maybe nhs varies depending on location.

GreenShades · 21/06/2020 12:31

@DanyBont16 its so frustrating especially with the NHS. I'm up North and here they did basic blood test and for my Husband his test. When we got these results we were referred to the hospital and they only did a more scans for me. Nothing came up and all these tests and back and forth trips took around 2 years only to be labelled with unexplained.

Update with this first soy cycle: So I was supposed to start AF on Friday. I have still nothing showing up. I did take a test this morning with FMU but it was a bfn. Now I'm worried that I have messed up my cycles with soy. I looked online and some people say that Soy can lengthen your cycle.

DanyBont16 · 21/06/2020 20:52

Do you have any symptoms? If you are more than 14 dpo there’s a good chance it’s worked for you 🤞🏻 I didn’t get a strong ov line but I think I ovulated Friday based on cirvical mucus and my temp going up yesterday. Every month I hope it’s the one but then feel stupid when my period arrives. I spoke to my gP Friday, she won’t refer me because my bmi is 31 - I’m struggling to shift weight despite eating healthy and exercise but have also just been given levothyroxine for elevated TSH. Fertility is so complex and being deemed ‘unexplained’ is incredibly frustrating.

GreenShades · 21/06/2020 22:34

@DanyBont16 I dont usually symptom spot as people always say that the symptoms can belong to both AF or BFP so I tend to not drive myself crazy Grin

This month with the Soy i noticed I had no CM or EWCM. Normally I do have plenty of both so maybe the Soy has ruined my chances this month. Also when I went to check now when I wipe I have pink discharge very light and very hard to see. I'm guessing AF could probably be on the way Sad

Can't you go back to the GP and tell them you are struggling to lose the weight. If they could maybe look at other things for you, a dietitian referral etc?

GreenShades · 23/06/2020 08:45

Today AF arrived. I was four days late this month. I think I might give the Soy another go. Maybe increase the dose too.

DanyBont16 · 01/07/2020 19:36

Just wanted to say that I’m in shock but have a bfp today! Af is due today/tomorrow....this was my second round of soy isoflavenes after a Mmc and 15 months ttc. I hope this little one sticks 🤞🏻 I wanted to let people know so that they give it a try - my cycles were 35 to 41 days so I think this made my ovulation stronger. I’m shaking I can’t believe it!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 01/07/2020 19:47

@DanyBont16 awww congratulations!!!!!! That gives me hope, soy didn't work for me this month so really hoping it may next month x

GreenShades · 01/07/2020 20:41

@DanyBont16 congratulations! I’m so happy that it worked for you. Thank you for keeping us updated. Hope it’s a sticky and everything goes well.

DanyBont16 · 01/07/2020 20:51

Thank you, it’s still sinking in. I did up the dose on the second cycle so I was taking 200mg day 3-8. The first cycle I took 160mg day 1-5. I ovulated the same day both cycles. I haven’t had any symptoms other than a temperature, my first pregnancy I had very sore boobs straight away so assumed it would be the same. Fingers crossed the next cycle works and my story has given some hope x

Sef89 · 30/01/2021 07:32

@DanyBont16
Hello, was you ovulating without SI? I'm ovulating and have a 26 day cycle, and was thinking of trying them....
