For the past few months I have been charting my BBT at the same time every morning. I was wondering if by my chart temps you would say I have ovulated? I got a few positive OPK's but 36.26c and 36.29c seem very low post ovulation temps? Am I worrying over nothing? Any help would be appreciated!

If it's a rise from the norm, that's what you are looking for. Which for you, it seems to be. But then the lower numbers on your chart seem really low? Mine never goes below 36.20 ever? After ovulation it's around 36.65 - 36.75 ish. So a rise of around 0.40.

rj995 · 22/01/2020 14:34

@paintfairy thanks for replying! I know it does seem to be quite low, for the past 3 months those types of temps seem to be the normal for me, I'm just worried my rise doesn't seem very big, but then again I guess it is around a 0.25/0.3 rise from the previous temps.. it seems to be quite a gradual rise. I'm going to the GP soon for an unrelated issue so I guess it won't hurt to ask!

Did your positive opks tie in with this? I never got a peak but I did get high on the day before I ovulated (according to BBT), which ties in? So you can only assume it's round about right.

rj995 · 22/01/2020 15:00

Sort of, this month was strange, I got a really dark OPK (much darker than control) CD21, it was a bit lighter CD22 then it turned back really dark CD23 again which has never happened to me before, usually I have my surge for a day then it drops back down to negative. I guess so, I'm worrying myself there's an underlying issue that's causing my BBT to be so low, if I had your temps I'd be happy lol!

CooperLooper · 22/01/2020 15:27

How come your temp on CD20 was discounted out of the pattern chart? Because taking your temp on CD20 into consideration it doesn't look like a big temp increase to me.

If you had your peak OPK on CD23 then you should see your temp spike 24-48 hours after that, so probably CD25 onwards 😊 if that's tomorrow for you then hopefully you might see a nice big increase tomorrow AM.

I didn't ov until CD23 this cycle and got my temp spike for 2 days after that, so I feel your pain! This is mine:

Also my 'normal' BBT is usually in the high 35s so I guess some people run a little colder than others? 🤷🏼‍♀️

paintfairy · 22/01/2020 15:36

Yes - I imagine everyone has a baseline for them. Which is why I'd say the trend is more important than the actual temperature?

rj995 · 22/01/2020 17:15

@CooperLooper I had some prosecco that night & I read any alcohol no matter the amount can have an effect on your BBT so I discarded it because my other temps had been quite a bit lower than that. I know I guess because I had to LH surges maybe my body tired to ov, failed so then tried to ov again yesterday? That's a good temp spike!

@paintfairy I guess that, everyone's body is so different it's pretty much impossible to compare! I'll keep checking and see what the next few days brings!

OP posts:
CooperLooper · 22/01/2020 21:31

Yeah I think multiple LH peaks aren't uncommon, and always go by the last one. Keep us posted how you get on over the next few days! 🤞🏻

rj995 · 23/01/2020 11:34

@CooperLooper thanks! I got another rise this morning, albeit small, I think I may just be a 'slow riser', hopefully the trend continues!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 23/01/2020 11:58

Here's mine. Just for comparison. I actually never take it at the same time. This morning I woke at 5am! So then I had to do it. Sometimes its 6am. Sometimes nearer 7am. But if I wake I obviously have to do it. So I use it as a guide. But oddly mine all kind of follow a similar pattern anyway, even if I do manage to do it at a consistent time.

Thanks @paintfairy I had another small rise this morning to my chart is looking like yours, the numbers and totally different but the pattern is the same and like you said I guess that's all that matters!

@CooperLooper how are you doing today?

OP posts:
paintfairy · 24/01/2020 07:44

Sure it's fine then. Everyone is different, and sometimes the pattern is less clear until the end. Mine keeps telling me I've done it at the wrong time. 6am this morning (which is actually around the 'right' time for me. Just never managed it this week). I was just pleased to not wake up stupidly early for no reason.

CooperLooper · 24/01/2020 10:31

Great news about getting a rise! An increase is still an increase after all :)

@paintfairy that looks a pretty textbook increase too!

Seems we're all around the same phase in this cycle so I'll keep my fingers crossed we all get an implantation temp dip and then a nice triphasic chart 🤞🏻🤞🏻 (no pressure ha). My temp this morning was identical to two decimal places to yesterday's which feels a bit odd 🤔

CooperLooper · 24/01/2020 10:34

Also I don't know if either of you have a Fitbit but I've set a 'silent alarm' on mine for 6am every morning as a reminder to take my temp, it seems to be working pretty well because I wake up enough to take my temp but it's easy enough to fall back asleep again afterwards which is nice

paintfairy · 27/01/2020 09:14

@CooperLooper I don't have a Fitbit. I usually get up at 6.30 anyway. This would be fine to test, my only issue is that some mornings I wake earlier or wake at 3am and can't get back to sleep. Ruins everything!

I've had some days where my temp has been exactly the same too! Bizarre.

Lydia4 · 04/02/2020 11:52

I've just started tracking my BBT. I have long cycles, around the 40 day mark. I was wondering is anyone sees anything abnormal on my graph?

BBT Advice
CooperLooper · 04/02/2020 19:32

Hey @Lydia4 😊 it's probably what they describe as 'rocky mountains' as your temps do seem to vary a lot. Are you taking it at the same time every morning as that might help?

Saying that, I take mine religiously at the same time every day and I still get rocky variations sometimes, it just seems I wake up some morning a lot warmer than usual!

Lydia4 · 04/02/2020 21:17

Hey @cooperlooper
I wouldn't say I'm taking the temp religiously, I would say the time is always within the same hour but not on the same minute😂 always between 6-7am. Do you know if this is something to worry about? And im guessing it's going to be difficult to detect when ovulation has occurred

Whyhaveidonethis · 04/02/2020 23:26

@paintfairy I rake mine hours off too and it always seems to stick to a pattern as long as I've had a few hours sleep.
@rj995 I don't discount just if I've had alcohol.... I'd never be able to take my temp. It doesn't seem to affect it at all for me.

paintfairy · 05/02/2020 07:20

@Whyhaveidonethis I don't even need to take mine every day to guess what it'll be. I'm either boring or my thermometer is faulty. 😂 Took it randomly today (CD4) was 36.32. I know it'll stay roughly that until I ovulate. Then it'll be around 36.80. Before dropping to 36.60 where it sits until AF.

Ss112 · 03/03/2021 18:17

Hi everyone! Hope someone can help me. I always thought i ovulated a day after I got my LH peak but I did my temp this month and it shows that I ovulate 3 days after my peak which explains why we havent conceived yet. I do think though I ovulate 2 days after rather than 3 but fertility friend reckons its 3 days. What do you guys think?
