TTC with irregular cycles

I thought I'd make a thread for those of us who are TTC but have frustratingly long and/or irregular cycles. It would be nice to have people who can relate, and can vent to Smileand hopefully experience our BFPs with!!

Bit about me - I'm currently on cycle day 78!!!! Longest ever cycle. I got positive ovulation sticks 10 days ago, no idea why it was so late this month 🙄 I've been off contraception almost a year, and this is the first month I've been using OPKs and BBT. My cycles are normally around 45 days, but no idea what is going wrong with this cycle. I've had testings, but apparently I haven't got PCOS 🤷🏻‍♀️

Please come say hello and share your story :)

Hey! It is the most frustrating thing ever isn't it?!
So...I am 28 and my last contraception was the depot injection in june 2018. Periods returned in aug 2019 and have been so irregular!
My last cycle was 89 days! I am currently om day 36 and ovulated approx 5 days ago so thankfully this one won't be as long. I was diagnosed with pcos 2 weeks ago which explains my irregular cycles.
It is so frustrating though!
Xx

I'm the same, last cycle was 60 days! I took a test today however but I think it's a dud one so going to test on Tuesday and give it 48 hrs. I've attached a pic anyhow. I took another later in the day and there was nothing!

Can I join too Smile? I think I'm clutching at saying irregular periods though as mine have basically been non existent since coming off the depo in Sept 2018!

It's so disheartening is t it and makes TTC even more challenging than it already is!!

Currently awaiting referral to hopefully get things sorted 🤞 xx

Very irregular (and looooong...up to 180 days) cycles here too but definitely PCOS.

I started taking Myo-Inositol 15th December, had cramps/tender breasts from 26th December to 1st January then AF 2nd Jan. I never normally get cramps for a full week.

This will be first full cycle taking Inositol and currently CD20 and ovulation was detected CD16. Frustratingly that was the only day I couldn't POAS as I was recovering from mega jet lag. Also have just got a cold/flu and really hoping this isn't the reason for the temperature spike.

Here's hoping for BFPs for us all soon :-)

Hi ladies, this is also me! I came off the pill in July 2018 and have been irregular ever since! I thought I was getting somewhere as I had 3 cycles consistently 43/44 days and then my last one was 76! I'm CD26 now so let's see how this one goes! X

SkyBlue20 · 20/01/2020 08:43

Morning, can I join? 👋🏼
I came off the pill around the end of November I think, had a withdrawal bleed almost straight away and then had my first ‘real’ period at the start of this month, which was basically one day of spotting, two days of super light flow and that was it, so I have absolutely no idea how long my cycles are or when to expect anything! I initially came off the pill with the intention of giving my body a few months to regulate before TTC so wasn’t really keeping note of dates or anything, however my husband and I decided to just go for it so we’re in a bit of no man’s land really!
Ovia tells me that if I were on an average 28 day cycle then I’d have just finished my fertile week so we’ve been DTD as much as possible over this week just in case and then will continue quite regularly until AF arrives I guess. It’s all so frustrating, I just want to know.
Husband and I are both 32 and it’s baby #1.
Fingers crossed for us all!

@Sarah5678 sorry you're having the same issues - it really is very frustrating, it must be hard trying to conceive when having regular cycles, but with irregular it's 10x harder as you just don't know what to expect and when are you using anything to track ovulation? I'm glad you've ovulated, fingers crossed for you x

@CatEnabler oh I can see a coloured line beginning at the bottom, but strange a later one didn't. Fingers crossed, let us know :)

@ForeverHopeful67 of course you can join! I would say the more the merrier, but it's not a very merry topic aha. Oh that is a long delay, I've heard others have had long delays after coming off the depo infection, so maybe it's normal to take so long to get out of your system? I hopefully a referral will give you answers, least you then know what you're working with and find some solutions

@ApplePie86 oh wow 180 days is long! That must have been so hard to wait out. Hopefully inositol works for you. The ovulation is a good sign - do you use BBT to track it? I'm wondering about whether it's worth getting a second opinion on PCOS - they said i had raised testosterone but not PCOS, but I can't see why I would be having such irregular periods if not

@Fluffysocks10 oh I can definitely relate to that! I came off the pill at the beginning of 2019 and my first few cycles were averaging around 36/40 and I though oh this is great! And then things have gone haywire and progressively got worse every cycle since! So frustrating isn't it Sad

@SkyBlue20 welcome! That sounds promising having a withdrawal bleed straight away! My partner and I said the same, that I'd come off the pill and not rush into it/wait for to give my body a chance to regulate, but I just couldn't wait! And now that I'm finding it harder to fall pregnant than I expected, I'm so glad we didn't hang around! We're late 20s so there's no rush, I'm just finding myself getting broodier by the day! I think the best plan is just to DTD every other day or so whilst trying to work out ovulation/cycles. Fingers crossed for you x

@pawsin yep, very long indeed!

I'm using the Ava bracelet now. Although not suitable for those with PCOS it takes the hassle out of taking temps and definitely more accurate than I had been taking them.

I'm losing weight at the moment before taking things more seriously as I have loads to lose (2 stone gone but another 4-6 to go unfortunately).
