He everyone,

I miscarried on September 20th and have had 4 bleeds, one every 4 weeks since then. I'm still as regular as I used to be but my periods have changed. They are lighter, the second and third one only lasted 2 days where I'm usually 4. They are also lighter in terms of less blood and lighter in terms of colour too. I used to have deep red blood and now it's kind of watery and pinky-red. This month it was a bit longer, 3 1/2 days, and a bit heavier, but still that same colour. I'm trying not to freak out but the colour doesn't look healthy to me in terms of being able to nurture an embryo :( anyone have any insight?

I have had a full blood count done because i bled heavily during mc and was worried i might be anaemic but i'm not...

thanks

Hi, sorry you're experiencing this I know what the worry is like following miscarriage and wanting everything back to 'normal'. Just wondering, did you have surgery?

@GoldenBauble thank you. no it happened naturally. They gave me the drugs orally towards the end because I was bleeding heavily and they just wanted to make sure I completed but tbh I think I'd completed by then as nothing further really happened after that. One of the nurses said taking the drug orally doesn't really do anything as it should be given as pessary.

Ah ok I see. I guess you can hopefully be reassured that as you didn't have surgery there won't be any damage to your uterus which is causing the lighter bleeding. So whatever is causing the lighter periods for you can hopefully be remedied - although I get the frustration around not knowing. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will be able to help you out more.

I know they sometimes suggest waiting a cycle or two to allow your lining to properly build back up but it has been a good couple of months for you now hasn't it? There are some remedies people suggest to help build a healthy lining, if you do a quick google search (I know this isn't always the best idea 😂) you will find info around this. Do you take any vitamins? I believe there is also some medication/hormones which can be prescribed if your lining isn't thickening properly. Maybe speak with your GP and see if they will refer you for a scan so someone can take a look for you? This might offer some reassurances as what your experiencing could be totally normal as your periods can change following a miscarriage and this might not necessarily problematic, it's just different for you if that makes sense?

I hope you can get some reassurances though. The experience of miscarriage is awful enough without the ongoing anxiety Thanks

@GoldenBauble thank you - I've just been googling and I've got so much info now its making my head spin a little. However I'm going to try a few things - Agnus Castus, maybe some other herbs like Rumex Crispus and Verbascum, and maybe some Castor Oil packs (although castor oil scares me as it's a poison!) and acupuncture. I'll try anything basically that isn't going to do me any harm and if it has a beneficial effect that would be brilliant. I'm already on some brilliant pregnancy supplements and omega 3, plus I drink loads of lemon and ginger tea, eat plenty of veg and beans and exercise daily... I've been trying almost 2 years and have uterine fibroids, so fingers crossed for me - it's been a painful journey xxx

Haha I know googling isn't always the best idea! Glad you've found some useful info tho. Acupuncture is meant to be really beneficial for fertility.
I think a good old hot water bottle is also meant to help increase blood flow and certain exercises like yoga might help too. (I think there are even meant to be fertility poses if you believe in that kind of thing!)

All the best, I hope you get a positive outcome x
