Hi there, I’m new here and just looking for some advice. I have so far taken god knows how many pregnancy tests and I am just so confused! The first 2 (Boots cheap strip tests) came up with both showing a BFP!!! However, 3 Clear Blue then came back with BFN (one was digital). A couple days later I got another BFP on two other tests, and today just had a BFN of FRER. I am so confused and don’t know what to think! 8 tests and only 4 positives. I’ve tried testing with FMU, I’ve tested much later in day to dilute urine and still don’t know what to think. I am very regular with my periods - they come like clock work in sync with my app, but my last period was a couple days out and very light for what I’m used to, also not as long. I’ve spoken to my doctor and I’m getting bloods done on Thursday but the not knowing is killing me! I have so so many symptoms (nausea, back ache, my non existent sense of smell has appeared out of no where, I’m eating almost everything in sight, and my boobs are a little tender - also to top it off, my ever so laid back dog has suddenly become really protective of me)

Me and my other half are trying to conceive. I had a miscarriage last year, which we weren’t expecting - I was only 5 and a half weeks, and we didn’t know I was expecting not we’re we trying at that point, but it did get the ball rolling and we decided that we were actually going to try, so I am all ready taking folic acid prescribed by my doctor.

Has anyone experienced something similar?! I’m doing my nut in here! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Depending on what point in your cycle you are, some tests might pick it up and others might not. If you had bleeding then it was most likely implantation bleeding if it was lighter which is a good sign. Stick to one type of tests (id suggest a pink dye test) and do it first thing in the morning. If you're only a few weeks pregnant then sometimes the HCG levels are lower throughout the day which could be why they're not picking it up. With the positives, was it the first wee of the day?

@lilcl95 3 of them were pink dye, 4 were blue dye, and one was digital. I got 2 positives on pink and 2 on blue. I tried different types of tests because the first two I took were positive but my partner was dubious of them being strip tests opposed to a brand like clear blue, which is why I’ve taken different brands. The first two positives were taken around 7.30pm, the clear blue were taken with first morning urine which were negative, one of the other positives was first morning urine and the last positive was again in the evening, the negatives were 2 first morning urine and two early afternoon. After speaking on the phone to my doctor on 3rd January she had said that going by my last normal period I would be about 7 weeks if I am, which would now make me about 8 weeks. Is it possible to be 8 weeks pregnant and get such a mess with tests? This is all new to me so I am completely clueless! 🙈

@lilcl95 just to add, all 8 tests have been taken on different days since the 29th December

If you were 8 weeks then they'd definitely all be positive. If you're only just positive and the doctors got it wrong then the clear blue tests don't tend to be as sensitive which is why they aren't picking it up. If you use a FRER (maybe get a few) and test first thing in the morning and see what happens.

@lilcl95 I’ve used a FRER with first morning urine and it was negative. I have photos of my positives, like they weren’t faint and the line appeared well within the time frame. I have blood tests this Thursday to confirm
