Hello! My partner and I have decided we want to try for a baby. I have two girls 6 and 8 and he has two boys 7 and 9. I was 26 when I last had a baby and if we are lucky enough to have another baby (we had a miscarriage last year) then I will be a decade older than the last time. Any thoughts on how it might be different / harder / easier. I'm a bit worried that my older body might not handle things quite as easily!! Any advice on things I should be doing (I'm taking folic acid) - I've literally forgotten everything!

I was not quite 10 years between my two - had my son at 23 and my daughter at almost 32. I hate to say it but my daughters pregnancy was a lot harder! I was sick as a dog for 15 weeks and didn't have a day of morning sickness with my son, ended up with gestational diabetes and had a couple of non serious bleeds as well! I think the sickness was due to it being a girl though as I've since read increased oestrogen in girl pregnancies can affect some women more. On the plus side though, I spent the last half of the pregnancy absolutely glowing, my hair was amazing and my skin looked fabulous and the hair on my legs even stopped growing which I don't remember with my son! Every cloud lol. I'm sure you will be fine, even though it was a harder pregnancy I still want one more (on the days when she sleeps well that is!) oh and sorry to hear you had a loss Thanks

I wonder what pregnancy would be like at 44 if it happend... 50/50 at my age :/ my last pregnancy was at 28 and that was hard enough lol first pregnancy at 18 was such a breeze. I do think age has a lot to do with energy etc I weighed less too, I'm trying to get my weight down by eating a very healthy diet worth trying anything at this age Crown Grin a gypsy who read my fortune told me I would have a son..... lol

Not me but my mum had 20 years between her first and last pregnancy. Pregnancy itself was fine, labour was fast, as in 3 contractions and she was born in the bathroom. She says it was the same really.

I had my first son at 22 and new baby at 32 and I was a lot healthier second time around. No morning sickness and baby grew better and easy labour. Can go either way

I had my first 3 at 17,18,20. My fourth at 28 and my fifth at 32. The last two pregnancy's were a lot harder, the fourth was bad but dear god the fifth was something else and she's 3 now and I'm left with sciatica and awful back pain.

Thanks for the replies interesting to hear how it went for different people and sorry to hear about things like sickness and sciatica. My last two pregnancies were pretty textbook so I'm just having to remind myself that I am a bit older and - but actually probably fitter, healthier and more mature about the whole thing. Thanks all
