Cycle Day 42 *yawn*

I have regular periods of 28 days. I'm two weeks late for AF and no sign of it arriving. Testing negative since AF due. No PMS or pregnancy symptoms. I just want this cycle to be over so that we can try again. I have no idea why I've missed a period, this has never happened to me before! Would I be crazy to make an appointment with my GP? For anyone who has completely missed a period, did it arrive the next month like normal? Did you ever find out what had happened?

This waiting would drive be crazy. Have you tested more than once?

stillhangingon · 30/12/2019 10:35

@BugPlaster I know, it's starting to really get me down because I don't know when I'll be able to start a new cycle, I might not even get another period for a few months and it's frustrating when TTC not knowing what's happening. I've tested so many times. I tested a final time this morning and negative so I've now accepted that I'm not pregnant. I've actually just allowed myself a small glass of Baileys after not drinking on Christmas convinced I was pregnant.

Hi @stillhangingon.
I am now on day 27 late for my period. I went to my GP last tuesday due to having a uti and explained my situation. I have now been off depo for a year, had first proper period at the beginning of november and nothing since. I'm symptomatic with heartburn, nausea, fatigue and mood swings. Had 3 days of light spotting.....all preg tests BFN. My GP told me to re-test in 2 weeks as when I was there she done test which showed a very very faint line. If test if bfn I have to go back and see her. I have a wee one at 2 and when i was pregnant that time around I had now symptoms at all just a missed period. I'd phone your GP for advice x

@stillhangingon I would definitely go speak to your GP lovely, even if it helps you feel like you're doing something proactive? You could be lacking something? (total guess) But at least they might be able to shed some light on it so you can get back to TTC!

stillhangingon · 30/12/2019 21:23

Thanks for your reply @Fiona250490 it’s so frustrating being in this limbo isn’t it? I’m going crazy trying to figure out what’s wrong and I haven’t waited nearly as long as you have! I have my fingers crossed for you that your faint line is the start of a BFP! Thanks

@Echobear yes I’m starting to think I should. Just worried that they will send me away and tell me to wait. Everything that I’ve read about the causes of a missed period, nothing seems to relate to me in the slightest. 🤔

My last cycle was 60days that was a YAWN!!! See my threads xx

stillhangingon · 30/12/2019 21:33

@MostlyChocolate oh god I hope mine doesn't go on for that long. Any tips on staying sane? 🙄 Did you ever get any answers? I'm unable to view your threads x

I had a random cycle of 58 days or something. I googled and I'm pretty sure the advice I read was hit somethings you just skip the period part, so it's two cycles long. It said not to go to the gp unless it had been over a certain amount of time (it was definitely longer than 58 days) or if you had other symptoms eg pain during sex etc. It might have been an nhs page I read.

seven201 · 30/12/2019 21:52

Found the nhs page

When to see your GP
See your GP if you're not pregnant – you've had a negative pregnancy test – and you've missed more than 3 periods in a row.
If you're sexually active and you have not taken a pregnancy test, your GP may advise you to take one.
They may also ask you about:
• your medical history
• your family's medical history
• your sexual history
• any emotional issues you're having
• any recent changes in your weight
• the amount of exercise you do
Your GP may recommend waiting to see whether your periods return on their own. In some cases you may need treatment for your periods to return.

@seven201 this is helpful, thank you! Funny that you say about the pain during sex though as for the past week or so me and DP haven't been able to as it is quite painful for me 🤔

@stillhangingon within 6 months one cycle was 48 days, others 35ish then last cycle was 60 and I was given a blood test to have on the 3rd day of and the when it appeared which it has now.
I'd wait for more than 60 days if its your first long cycle, before gp visit. But definitely check it out if you get another within 6 months.
I'm either early meno or have thyroid issues.... Soooo hoping it's the latter xx

stillhangingon · 30/12/2019 22:12

@MostlyChocolate So sorry that your cycles have been like this! I really hope you get your answers soon though. If there is something underlying I’m definitely hoping the latter. It’s good to be able to hear from other people who have experienced similar, though I do seem to be panicking far too much. Wishing you the most luck with your journey xx Thanks
