Late implantation = high risk of miscarriage?

I got my BFP this morning, yay!

I'm pretty sure I ovulated on the 9th - I don't temp or use OPKs but I had cramps/pains and ewcm then and for a couple of days before, and the dates fit.

I was expecting my period on the 23rd but it obviously didn't show. That night I had really strong cramps for an hour or two. I'm now worried that this was implantation at 14dpo.

Is that possible, and if so, is it a bad omen for a successful pregnancy?

I have heard that too, that it could mean higher risk of miscarriage. Not sure if true I am afraid though...

On the other hand; it may not have been implantation cramps, but just normal period cramps? Implantation pain to me at least has been different to period cramps - those type of pain comes a bit later, in early weeks of pregnancy. First trimester is full of all sorts of cramps and niggles! So maybe implantation wasn't late? But of course every woman is different

There is some limited evidence to suggest that late implantation can lead to a higher risk of miscarriage, however there is always a risk, so just try not to worry about it. X

*argh i meant 'normal pregnancy cramps'. Not period

When I first found out I was pregnant (only got a very, very faint pos at 12dpo) I had cramps constantly on and off. The actual implantation cramps I had, well at least what I now think was implantation lol, was just a very dull ache on one side that didn't last more than 30 mins. However there were times after this almost up until 12 weeks where the cramping was so bad that I thought I would definitely be bleeding. Apparently it's normal but it's very scary, I'm still terrified of any twinges.

When did you test?

Good luck OP 😊.

Yeah maybe just normal cramps. I don't know! Have been having similar ones since then tbf.

Thanks Belle, that's reassuring ☺️ I got bfns at 13 and 14dpo, a squinter at 17dpo, another bfn at 18dpo and then a bfp on a clear blue this morning (20dpo). So it's been a bit of a rollercoaster!

Try not to think about it too much. I implanted at 5dpo (confirmed by huge temp dip and strong symptoms at 9dpo) and still miscarried so if it's going to happen, it will regardless of when implanted.

I have irregular cycles and ovulate really late. Usually only 3-4 days before my period. I have two children and no miscarriages so it wasn't bad for me.

I did read this after I was excessively searching the internet after I had a Mc but it wasn't saying that late implantation causes Mc it was just saying that it can explain some of the rates of Mc. But like someone said further up you don't know that those cramps were implantation, when you are pregnant you get loads of strange cramps and aches and pains so for all we know you could have implanted at 7dpo and it was your ligaments starting to stretch. It's a massively anxious time at the start after a bfp but please don't try to panic if there's no specific reason to Thanks
