Hi all, completely new to this. Have been TTC for around 8 months now for our first. Have been off contraception for 2 years and have been tracking my cycles ever since. I know 6 months in TTC terms isn’t very long at all.
How do you manage to not think about it every second of every day?!? It’s driving me mad 😩 my luteal phase is only 9 days long so panicking it could be the reason.
Due to my app I’m ovulating this weekend so hoping for a BFP in 2020. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Hello! I am also ovulating (hopefully) this weekend and I'm worried about my luteal phase. Over the last two cycles I've only had 22 days and 25 days total with 7 days luteal and then 10 so I'm feeling worried. This will be cycle 5 for us TTC #1 and been off the pill since August.

I bought some different supplements this month (maca root, evening primrose and angus castus) so hoping these help out with luteal phase (I'm worried I dont produce enough progesterone) so hoping that helps this cycle.

Just really want a child, it's becoming increasingly hard to see all these other family members or friends sending their kids off to school etc. Hopefully 2020 will be our year!

Do you use ovulation sticks? We were trying TTC for over 12 months with irregular periods, I was put on metformin (PCOS) which regulates them again, once that I happened I started using OPKs and we fell pregnant on my first cycle of using them.

If you ever aren't I have a tonne upstairs I'd happily post out for you to try. I know it takes over your life. I was doing BBT too and my husband hated it but I put in my app when we had sex and everything.

Hi Quiffy, that’s exactly my worry too! I’ve read conflicting info about it too. Tell me about it, it’s so hard to be happy for others when I feel so jealous!

Hi summershine2204 yes I do, I use them every cycle, I ordered a load of amazon but this cycle I’ve decided to use the clear blue ones to see if they’re any better, but thank you very much for the offer! It really does doesn’t it!

When I touched about jealousy, in my office there's a couple who started dating, they'd been together 4 months and they announced they were pregnant. I was in the verge of tears, like she was new to the business, they hardly new each other and somehow get to have a child and me and my DH had been trying and trying and getting nothing.

I used the cheapies from Amazon - I went through a tonne because when I first started the metformin my cycles were whatever they wanted to be.

I remember having a standup row with my DH when he told me it'd happen when I forgot about it and stopped stressing! Hahahaha worst thing in the world he could've said.

Seriously though, good luck, I'm only 6 weeks so it's so so early but it is possible! We were going to start Clomid in January - have you been to the doctors? There no harm in your both getting a once over, it's better to be ahead of everything than chasing your tail

Hi OP, I tried for 5-6 months for my second (currently 8 weeks pregnant) and got very stressed. I found OPKs confusing, and was worried I wasn't ovulating. The GP sent me off for a simple blood test (to be done on the day your period is due) to check if I was ovulating. It might be worth you asking your GP for similar?

AriadneO · 17/12/2019 18:38

(You probably know already, but a period doesn't always mean you ovulated, as you may have had an anovulatory cycle.)

Quiffy · 17/12/2019 18:42

@Sophj19 Exactly! Although this forum has helped, as I'm genuinely happy for those I've got to know and I know are struggling. I suppose I dont know how long those I know IRL have been trying. Have you considered going to the docs?

MsChatterbox · 17/12/2019 18:50

You can get progesterone cream over the counter. This can lengthen luteul phase. Worth a shot! No advice about not thinking about it. It consumed me completely until I conceived. Hopefully your time is soon 🤞🏻

Sophj19 · 17/12/2019 19:03

@summershine2204 I can imagine how that made you feel, It’s drummed into us as we grow up “if you have unprotected sex you’ll get pregnant” then when we do want to start a family and it doesn’t happen right away it’s difficult to not worry.
We haven’t been to the doctors yet. We are going away Boxing Day so will be making an appointment when we get back.
I didn’t know about the progesterone cream! Do you know what it’s called/where I can buy it please!
Thank you all for your very kind and helpful replies x

I have been trying for 6 months now and it's all I think about constantly! Even when I'm busy, at work, having fun, it's there! My DH keeps telling me to stop stressing, but I don't think I am really 'stressed', I just can't turn my brain off! One minute I get my hopes up the next I'm like 'well it's not gonna be positive so dunno why I'm even thinking about it'.
I'm gonna head to the doctors in a couple of months and just tell them we have been trying 12 months to get the ball rolling.
No advice other than hang in there with me!
