Reciprocal IVF 5dt and very low hcg beta levels

1st hcg test at 12dp5dt = 49
2nd had test at 14dp5dt = 78 (60% rise)

Is this a chemical pregnancy waiting to happen? How many weeks am I to check against hcg charts?

Been told to wait for scan on 30th so will be spending Xmas in limbo. I know these numbers aren’t good and I have had no bleeding nor symptoms of any kind (though my period is due tomorrow)

Anyone experienced anything similar?

I’m really sorry but yes, it does look like a chemical waiting to happen.

Thanks for the reply. It's a far bitter pill to swallow having a "yes for now" result rather than a clear negative. Do chemical pregnancies end by bleeding? I am due today but so far nothing....

Sadly I would say this is a non viable pregnancy sorry - most studies I've read state hcg should be around 100 9dp5dt for the highest chance of it being a successful pregnancy x

Thanks, I guess I'm clinging on to any little hope. As I used my wife's egg and donor embryo I was unsure when to calculate how far pregnant I am from. Wondering if maybe its just not as far as most, or a late implanter.. I'll clucth at any straws until I bleed or the scan happens Wink

Emergency Laparoscopy and Ectopic
Had persistent mild pain in my right hip so went to the GP after 3 days of it, up to hospital for some blood tests (low hcg of 490 21dp5dt) and scan, followed by emergency surgery! After saying goodbye to our little bub-to-be and coming round from a 2 and a half hour sedation we learnt they were wrong! Scarily we elected for the shot to terminate but the senior consultant insisted on surgery so our little ray of maybe could have been gone for no reason Shock. 2 days later hcg is 1111, scan booked for 30th to see where and how we are doing. Hope lives on... Go bub, go, survive and thrive!

Scan was booked for the 30th, I started bleeding around midnight on 29th. Felt wet down there some liquid, then blood and clots. Scan confirmed start of miscarriage. Went back a week later, literally used the words "medical mystery" as my sac which previously was shaped like an upside down tear with bleeding and tissue having come away from the bottom was now bigger and round. I had only bled that one night. Dr's now saying it's not a miscarriage though the sac is empty so they have sent off bloods to have a better idea of what is going on. Besides the abnormal changes to my sac I don't understand why this isn't just a blighted ovum, they have now mentioned possible molar pregnancy. It's a different story every week, I just want it to end as whatever is going on is not viable. Going back to our ivf clinic tomorrow for their diagnosis as I want to make sure the NHS arent hiding more errors or making any more. Sounds a bit paranoid maybe but it's my first pregnancy and unnerving to have had unnecessary surgery and doctors saying they don't know what's happening. Just want to look forward and know we can try again.
