Late/missed period after cervical smear test

So I had my first smear test during my last cycle and I am now 5 days late for my period. My cycle is always 28-29 days and I’m never any later. I did think it was possible to be pregnant as we have been trying however the test came out negative.
Has anyone else experianced a changed in the period after having a smear??

Hey @Kikigirl so I have news! Enjoying a lovely sunny holiday but despite taking pills to delay AF I have come on today. 11 days late (just like you! 😂) and on Christmas Eve!

Omg how strange!! A bit annoying for you on holiday however at least you know it’s all ok know 😂... If this isn’t proof for doctors who says smears don’t effect AF then I don’t know what is!!! Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and Christmas!! X

I know I'm so annoyed that it's on my holiday but relieved I'm not broken 😂 merry Christmas and we'll catch up after the big day! Hoping we both get some Christmas babies! Xx

Good Day, I am new here. I had my first smear test in Feb. Now I am 30 days late. Done two pregnancy tests that came out negative. Wanted to check if this is normal. 30 days late and not pregnant.

Hey @AbbyOla, unfortunately there is no scientific evidence to suggest this should happen (searched everywhere when mine was late) however it definitely does. I was 11 days late after mine which is less than your 30 days but I guess everyone’s different. I would just suggest to keep waiting, and try not to get stressed about it as that can also cause a late/missed AF. Hope it arrives soon!

Hi guys I’m new on here I’m 31, 32 in July.. been reading about your guys irregular periods after having a smear had a smear in March and was a little uncomftable and sore for a week after since this I have had 2 irregular periods after this test one cycle being 35 days and the next 33 I have a tracker on my phone so it’s obvs going on the Last cycle length of 33 but we are on cycle day 33 and Iv still not had one even though I have been experiencing period symptoms for the last week... and Iv still not had one I’m hoping It comes by cycle day 35 I have read it’s normal for periods Cycles to be between 33-35 Days long but I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this I have always had irregular periods untill 3 1/2 years ago since I came off birth control and the have been more predictable since which I liked and now it seems we are going backwards 😫😫

Update... I came on exacally on 35day cycle just before midnight went to the toilet before bed and I wiped and I came on WTF.... I do have anxiety and stress so this could be a contributing factor...... we shall see next month on what it lands on my app is saying the 23rd we shall see but I think the app is basing it on a 28day cycle I don’t know...

I know this is an old post, however, i'm going through the same thing! I had a smear test a week ago (Tuesday 19th May) and i'm currently on day 30 of my cycle and i'm never this late! My usual cycles are 25-28 days. I'm not TTC yet, however I do get really worried about my fertility (even though i'm 26!).

Hi, I’m a bit late to the party here but so glad I found this post. I had my first smear on the 27th of Jan was due my period 4 days ago done a pregnancy test which was negative. It’s still stressing me out tho I have a 7 month old and the thought of being pregnant again at the moment makes me anxious. Seriously hoping AF turns up soon 😣

I had my smear about week ago 14th feb and then I was due go on my period the following Friday not period what’s so ever or Saturday then Saturday I wippef myself and the tiny bit of blood so I thought great that’s my period but ever since no pad is really got any blood and I’m on the pill so what’s going on ?

I had my smear test done, I am 8 days delayed... I have two daughters, had a laparoscopy 10 years ago, i have been single since the Irish gov issued our last home prison lockdown in December... and I was freaking out about something way more scary than pregnancy until I read this... Why would this delays happen? Does anyone know?

I had my smear on the 8 of March.... my period were supposed to come on the 15 March.... now I'm stressed... I'm scared to do pregnancy test

Hi there. I have the same problem. Had my smear test on 23rd of April,and I have my period always on 4th 5th... anyway,1 and a half week after the test I had a strange bleeding discharge quite similar to the period itself(which I thought it was) the only differences were no pain and the usual amount of time,it only lasted for less than 1 day. I truly believe that every test which includes the sample process affects and changes the stability in our body system. What I don't understand is why nobody gives any explanation or concern about the side effects.
