Barely there periods after MMC

BabyB19 · 22/11/2019 16:17

Has anybody else had barely there periods after they have had MMC/MC at all? It's been 5 months now and my periods are so slight you could miss them, also cycle is about 25/26 days long.

Mine were lighter afterwards but I wouldn't say they were barely there. Maybe it's worth a phonecall with the GP?

BabyB19 · 22/11/2019 16:35

Thanks @ScarletGlow I had bleeding for 10 weeks afterwards so I assumed it was because there was nothing left, but this is my 3rd cycle since all that stopped and it's still very light

I had a natural miscarriage in June and my periods since have been much lighter and last 24hrs max. GP sent me for a scan to make sure I didn't need any medical management but they said everything was gone and my lining was consistent with the point in my cycle. Tbh I'm not convinced I could get pregnant again whilst they're like this, it doesn't seem like there can be enough there to support implantation, but GP doesn't seem to be interested enough to do anything more at this stage. Sorry I don't have a solution for you, just wanted you to know you weren't alone!

BabyB19 · 24/11/2019 10:52

Thank you @Gemster19 it feels better to know at least I'm not alone and that you're Dr hasn't seen anything to be immediately concerned. I know that must be frustrating but surely it's better than them panicking and thinking it means something is really wrong? I hope you're doing ok thanks for your reply x

OP posts:
Gemster19 · 24/11/2019 10:58

I think when waiting for the scan I convinced myself that there would be something wrong and that was why I wasn't pregnant again already (since everyone says how super fertile you are after a miscarriage), so I was almost hoping they'd find a problem they could give me a magic pill for! But you're totally right, much better that there's nothing to worry about Smile

Bidda · 24/11/2019 11:46

Hey op when I misscarried I has no periods at all for 3 months they came back the day before I flew out on holiday, now there all over the place x

BabyB19 · 24/11/2019 17:03

Hi @Bidda thanks for the reply, fingers crossed now they have returned it won't be long until you are back in a cycle, @Gemster19 much better there's no immediate worry I would think, I'm back on my higher dose of folic acid now so hopefully that will help regulate everything ☺️

OP posts:
Bidda · 24/11/2019 17:07

@babyB19 according to this app I am 1 day late but I have taken a test and its negative. I have some cramping but no Af yet. So now left wondering what's going on x

BabyB19 · 24/11/2019 17:20

It's so hard isn't it, mine seem to be getting shorter and I'm on about 25/26 day cycles atm! Someone recommended prenatal vitamins to help regulate it so going to try some @Bidda x

OP posts:
Bidda · 24/11/2019 17:30

@babyB19 what are you taking? I was taking folic acid and preg vitamins, nothing seams to be happening. Hoping I'm to early to test positive but I think I'm not pregnant and Af will turn up soon x

BabyB19 · 24/11/2019 17:35

I'm just on the higher dose folic acid atm but going to start some pre conception ones this cycle. It's hard when you're not in a cycle to know wether you're late or not isn't it. Hopefully you will either get a bfp or AF will show soon so you can move on @Bidda x

OP posts:
Bidda · 24/11/2019 18:00

I hope so @BabyB19, all the best to you the waiting and wishing is horrible x

BabyB19 · 24/11/2019 19:42

You too @Bidda good luck x

Hi @BabyB19 came across your post and I posted something similar I too have noticed my periods have been lighter since two most recent miscarriages, mine are like two to three days at most. I'm going to my doctor about this. X

BabyB19 · 25/11/2019 07:35

Hi @Lauraliverpool sorry to hear you've been through it a few times once is bad enough. Mine aren't even 2-3 days really, it's more like spotting the odd day 🙄 are you taking anything for it? I would love if you could update me after seeing the Dr? X

OP posts:
Lauraliverpool · 25/11/2019 15:05

@BabyB19 sorry you've gone through this too. Well I was prescribed projesterone pessaries by the consultant at the miscarriage clinic as she suggested I had a lutual phase defect cause I said my periods have been light, will wear a towel but doesn't soak through them or anything. Apparently which I'm not sure the reason being only supposed to use projesterone for a maximum of 3 months 😕 so that's what I did as when I needed a new prescription they told by that on the phone at the hospital. Of course will update you when I've been the doctor no worries. X

BabyB19 · 25/11/2019 15:11

I don't even need to wear a pad, I do just incase but there's never anything on it 🤦🏽‍♀️ I'm going to carry on with the folic acid etc and if it's not returned to normal after Christmas I'll go back @Lauraliverpool thanks for keeping me updated x

OP posts:
Lauraliverpool · 25/11/2019 16:32

No worries @BabyB19 I read that b6 vitamin or something can help regulate hormonal activity. I use superdrug own brand advanced pregnancy vitamins can be used before conception, during pregnancy and after, I'm also on high dose folic acid. X

Lauraliverpool · 26/11/2019 11:42

Hi @BabyB19 thought I'd update you after seeing my doctor, explained my concerns to her, she asked some questions like when I was last on contraception, when my miscarriages were, how long it took to get pregnant, up to date with smears etc. Told me about referral to the recurrent miscarriage clinic which I told her I'd already been and had the tests cause as far as I'm aware there's only so many things they can screen for. She asked would I like to be referred to the fertility clinic so I said yes so have the referral form to ring and book. Hope this is of some help to you. X

Lauraliverpool · 26/11/2019 11:44

She did say to be kind to myself and try and not put pressure on myself as we are trying again. She did say that you can go without having a period sometimes and that they can be light with hormones up and down in the body and it can be normal.

BabyB19 · 26/11/2019 11:47

Hi @Lauraliverpool thank you so much for keeping me updated. I feel relieved both for you and for myself tbh, I'm glass that again she has seen no immediate concern and I think she is right we do need to be kind and give ourselves time. I have actually had a bit more of a bleed today so I feel better that although up and down, something is happening in there. I wish you all the luck in the world x

After my first mc my periods were barely there, despite bring 5 or 6 days long and fairly heavy before.

I had tests (privately) to check my uterus was not damaged by the erpc and that I was ovulating. Dr said my womb lining was thick despite non existent periods and concluded nothing was wrong. For me, I went on to have 3 more mcs and it took 4 years to have my son (4 weeks old now). I had many further tests in that time. Sorry it's not a happy tale for me, but no dr along the way suspected the light periods were a factor.

zoomies1 · 26/11/2019 16:16

Hi @BabyB19 this is what I am going through right now.

I had an MMC and ERPC back in Feb. It took a long time for my period to come back and it was so light I couldn't believe that was it. I went to my GP who dismissed me. I waited until six months after the MMC and went back and that GP dismissed me too. She just kept saying 'come back when you have been trying for a year'. Wasn't interested in hearing about my cycle or anything else. So I went private.

My hormones seem fine, my progesterone is actually higher than normal but my lining was only 5mm at the scan which doesn't quite make sense (although it may not have been at quite the right time).

I am now booked in for a hysteroscopy in early December as they thought they may have seen something else on the scan. I don't want it to be Asherman's but I am convinced something isn't right.

Hopefully, it will all be fine and as it has been a year since we started trying, my new GP will refer me but I'm glad I didn't wait because if nothing else, it will give me peace of mind.

Its hard seeing everyone else go on to get pregnant again quite quickly after miscarriages when I've not had a sniff of a BFP. I just want to know if there is a problem and if so, if it can be fixed.

BabyB19 · 26/11/2019 16:38

I get that @zoomies1 I had medical management but had to have it twice because it was in an awkward place and so an EPCR was too much risk. I've started bleeding again today and although light it much more resembles a period than anything I've had so far and I'm all bloated etc which I'm taking as a good sign that the hormones are getting back to where they should be too. Thank you for sharing and good luck on your journey x

OP posts:
Lauraliverpool · 26/11/2019 16:48

@BabyB19 that's ok no worries, think subconsciously you don't realise you are putting so much pressure on yourself until someone like the Doctor tells you. That is hopefully the sign that things are gradually settling down now for you. Wishing you so much luck. Xx
