Recurrent Thrush preventing conceiving?

Hi,

Are there any ladies out there who have been struggling to conceive & have recurrent thrush?

I am struggling to re-conceive after a MMC in Jan this year & have recently been going for acupuncture, while there I mentioned thrush problems (ongoing now for about 7years!) & was told it could be down to the PH downstairs creating a problem for the sperm to survive which has really freaked me out!! Shock

I have regular periods & have had the 21 day hormone test & had a scan to check ovaries, tubes etc & have been told by the Dr there is no reason for me not to get pregnant again. They've given me a 200mg anti-fungal to take on day 7 of my cycle but it's been 10 months & not a whiff of another BFP!

I'm starting to wonder if this could be the reason & if so I'm gutted because I seriously don't know how to prevent the thrush constantly coming back because I would have done it by now!

Sorry this is long winded Confused

It could be the reason, but have you been tested for BV? I had it continually for months and they kept treating it as thrush but eventually I went to the sexual health clinic and they diagnosed BV. Had a short course of antibiotics and it went.

Lots of people get thrush and BV muddled up.

Yes, l have issues with thrush and issues with conceiving. We have both had a number of tests which we have passed with flying colours. We now have a diagnosis / non-diagnosis of unexplained infertility

May sound stupid but has your OH been treated for thrush? Men can have it with no symptoms and can keep reinfecting you with it even if you’re being treated? All they need to do is take a tablet the same time as you and then just don’t DTD for a few days while it’s going away.

Hi ladies thanks for the replies!

To answer your questions my DH has been treated each time I have it with the tablet as we realised we were just passing it back to each other! Also I have been tested for BV when I had consultant appointment in April though I suppose it could be time to get checked again now but I suspect it is thrush.

@EL8888 sorry to hear you've been having the same issues! Have the Dr's told you what's next for you?

The acupuncture woman has basically said that recurrent thrush, BV etc upsets the 'flora' downstairs making it inhospitable - how awful does that sound Blush she's recommend me to cut all sugar, dairy & gluten etc which has been feeding the yeast & starve it. Once your body removes the Candida it's better & also to take a good probiotic. I'm gutted that this could be the reason for not conceiving again & am worried it's going to take years to bugger off! AF is due this time next week & I'm pretty sure we've not been lucky this month either.

She sent me this link if it's any help:

Sorry again so long winded!

@Pearlg we are part of the way through IVF. Our diagnosis is still unexplained though
