TTC with Long Distance Husband

My husband and I are hoping to start a family soon, but we are currently living apart (different countries) for at least the next 6 months.

I started tracking my ovulation last month and got a surge on CD20 so assume I ovulated around CD21. I'm currently on CD14 for this month and I'm already getting an LH 22 reading so I figure the surge may be in the next couple of days up to maybe CD18.
The problem is, I will see my husband for a week from 20th December, which if things go as I expect them to with this cycle, that will be a few days too late to try conceiving.

Does anyone know of anything I can do to try to delay ovulation just a few days next month to give us a better chance? I have read about taking ibuprofen in the days leading up to it which I'll happily try, but anything more guaranteed to work than that would be really helpful.

Unfortunately I can only see him every few months and that can only be in half term holidays, so we're really restricted in TTC. I feel like December is going to be our best chance for at least the next 6 months.

TIA for any help Smile

Ah that sucks. I reckon there's no exact science to this and also depends on how regular your cycles are. Some people say vitex lengthens their cycle. It did for me by delaying OV. Worth a try?

Oh I have this problem. DP lives over 3 hours away and we both work shifts. It's a nightmare and we have had to be pretty creative about how we work it out. Last mint ov hit 3 days early and scuppered our carefully laid plans.

No idea how to delay ov unless you see you GP to get norehisterone to delay the start of your period so you can time it better.

@Whyhaveidonethis

It's a nightmare. The first month I tracked the next few months of predictions were spot on timing wise, but they've gradually changed and now I'm like 5 days out so wouldn't stand a chance. I've even been looking at flights to just go for a weekend if the timing is right but that's about 500 quid a go so not doable at all. I have no flexibility with work so it's just hoping that he's able to come over here sooner rather than later and we'll have a better chance. If for any reason his visa isn't approved then I actually don't know what we'll do Confused
His insistence that it's all God's plan, while true, doesn't make me feel much better either Hmm

When I was TTC, I took Soy Isoflavones on cycle days 3-7 to aid fertility (it's a kind of natural Clomid) and it always pushed back my ovulation by 3-5 days

@polkadotpixie

Thanks, it's worth a go! Are they something I can get from H&B or am I going to have to search the internet for them?
