Ovulating from same ovary

Hi everyone, was just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to only ever ovulate from the same ovary each cycle?

I only have one ovary. I ovulated every month, meaning it was doing double the work.

So it can happen in theory, perhaps if there is something wrong with the other one.

My sisters MIL only has 1 ovary and had non identical twins twice.

Most women have a dominant ovary - usually the right which ovulates more than the other one - I had ovulation tracking for several months and 90% of the time ovulated on my right. It's completely normal and really only an issue if you lose your tube/have a blocked on the dominant side

Thanks for replying everyone, I've recently just had a laparoscopy to determine endometriosis and also to treat a endometrioma (chocolate cyst) on my right ovary. My tubes were clear and no issues with left ovary. Have been ttc for 2 years now and already have a 7yo so just made me wonder if I've only been ovulating from my right but due to the cyst the egg quality hasn't been the best.

Yes my friend had one removed and carried on having monthly periods and several children close together Confused Her Dr told her the one compensates for the other lost ovary.

@HE88 just to give you a wee bit of hope I had a lap at the end of July to treat endo and got pregnant two months later. Now 9 weeks 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
What I did notice is that my cycle had got really short 25 days ish and after the lap it went back to 30 ish days. My endo was mild but even though mild was obviously enough to shorten my cycle by 5 days. If you are ovulating unduly early then I presume that might effect egg quality.
It’s hard to know but I suppose I’m just saying endo really fucks with your cycle and general health.

@BoomBoomBoomLetMeHearYouSay Congratulations lovely news great to hear positive outcomes. I've not had my period yet after lap but I'm due on any day now. My cycles before lap ranged between 30-35 days so who knows what will happen now.
