Private v NHS fertility tests

Hiya,
I’m 37 and have been actively ttc for 18 months now with not even a sniff of a bro.
Both myself and my husband have had the standards NHS tests (SA and various bloods for me...plus swabs and ultrasound) and everything has come back fine. They won’t refer us for ivf because I have 2 dds with my exh.
I was just wondering if it’s worth paying to have the same tests done privately at a fertility clinic. I know they’ll test exactly the same but wouldn’t a fertility consultant review them in more detail than my gp? Or am I clutching at straws here

Your GP should happily give you copies of the blood tests they have done. Presumably you’ve had early cycle and 7 days pre-period bloods and some baseline stuff? GPs can’t generally do the AMH test. You haven’t had an HSG or HyCoSy to check tubal patency. Would your GP refer you for this on the NHS? Would be around £200-400 privately. Anecdotally people often do seem to get pregnant after these, giving the system a bit of a flush out as it were.

Most private clinics will offer a fertility first steps consultation, often including SA and pelvic ultrasound. I think ours was something like £150. You could do this, take the results you do have and have a conversation about options from there. The cost of repeating all the blood tests is likely quite high and not going to give you better results but the conversation would be useful. There might be things to explore that aren’t IVF. My clinic were really good as well at suggesting what we could get done within the NHS.
