Hi All,

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and up until Friday had been feeling well. Then BOOM... All of a sudden I started feeling really sick 🤢

I was prepared for the onset of morning sickness but I didn't expect it to be like this 😣 ever since Friday morning I have felt constantly nauseous 24/7. I haven't actually thrown up but I feel like I could.
I didn't leave the house all weekend and then woke up this morning at 4.32am feeling sick and couldn't get back to sleep.
I managed half a Weetabix but it went straight through me. I've been to the toilet a few times since with diarrhea and my stomach is making the loudest noises (no pain though).

Does this sound like early pregnancy stuff or do you think it could be a stomach bug? I'm still feeling really rough and don't see it calming down anytime soon.
Please tell me this isn't my life for the next 2 months 🙏 x

Hate to say it I've been nauseous all day and being sick since about 7 weeks (I'm now 11) no appetite dr has now signed me off with medication to try to make me feel better. It is worth trying the home remedies of eating before you get up and ginger etc but if things don't improve speak to your gp or midwife

I'm now 10 weeks and this sounds really familiar. I was waking up every night around 4 or 5 in the first weeks and had no idea that could happen in pregnancy. I also had a very upset stomach.

If it helps, things didn't really get worse for me but more or less stayed at that level throughout. I also got better at coping with it. Holding out for the second trimester and hoping it gets better!

Thanks both! Sounds like I'd better get used to this feeling 😣

I HATE ginger! Tried ginger, lemon and manuka honey tea, raw ginger in hot water, ginger beer (I couldn't stomach any of them). My prenatal vitamin has ginger in it but doesn't seem to touch the sides. I've tried eating bland foods little and often, sipping water, peppermint tea, chewing gum... Nothing helping so far. I have ordered sea bands which should arrive today and I'm really hoping they take the edge off. I'm terrible with nausea and the thought of it getting worse is really stressing me out.

Will continue to do all the recommended self help stuff and if it doesn't improve/worsens then I will make an appointment with my GP. I'm just concerned that as I amn't actually being sick they won't give me anything x

@CoffeeAndCarbs I really feel your pain! I also stressed a lot about it getting worse and how was I going to cope, but for me it didn't get that much worse. And I have so far not been sick.

I also found that ginger did nothing but Orangina has been my saviour :p

The only thing that helped me was lots of sleep, eating exactly what I felt like, and eating regularly. I took a week off work at one point and that also really helped so keep in mind that taking some time off is an option if you are not coping.

CoffeeAndCarbs · 28/10/2019 12:39

Thank you @escocesita I will give orangina a try. I know it's trial and error and different things work for different people so I'll keep trying ☺️ I really hope I'm as lucky as you and it doesn't get any worse as I'm already struggling (sounds pathetic I know).

Funnily enough, I had a nap on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and felt better for a short time after I woke up so I think you are right, sleep is good. Hope I get a full night tonight 🤞 and I hope the second semester gives you some rest bite x

@CoffeeAndCarbs I was "only" being sick 1 maybe 2 times a day but the nausea was constant. Personally my gp was fantastic and said the nausea can be worse she was concerned about it causing a lack of appetite (so me and baby not getting enough calories) and dehydration.

I was put on cyclizine and they seem to help. It's really worth speaking to the gp if you're finding the nausea debilitating (which I was)

Sounds very much like I had in early pregnancy - just constant nausea- travel sickness bands helped but had to wear them for a few days before they seemed to kick in. That said, I have had nausea and a diarrhoea bug recently too!

whatdayisit7 · 28/10/2019 16:34

When I was pregnant I had awful nausea just as you described, morning noon and night. Even if I woke up to pee in the night the nausea would hit immediately. It's very normal!
