TSH level 0.01 - TTC for almost 2 years

Hi,

We've been trying to conceive for almost 2 years and so far nothing has happened. I have been checked to confirm I'm ovulating and my husband's sperm analysis came back normal. Its recently been flagged that my TSH level is undetectable, however my T3 and T4 is within normal range. My endocrinologist doesn't want to put me on any medicines, as I have no other symptoms and he said they arent recommended when trying to conceive. However, I've always had really long cycles (between 35-40 days) which he said may be a factor.

Has anyone had similar issues? We are due to start IVF in Jan, but I'm worried about my TSH levels (although the endocrinologist wasnt concerned) as it is linked to miscarriages.

I've just recently started acupuncture and Chinese medicine, so fingers crossed a miracle happens before starting IVF.

Hi @rebecca121, I can't help much with the low TSH (mine was a bit high) although possibly @Mrs71 would be willing to share her experiences.

There are a few of us in similar situations with regard to time ttc and considering ivf on this thread if you are looking for company: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3696095-ttc-first-baby-1-year-thread-2?pg=13&order=

Thank you @RosettaR, I will join that thread.

Hi@RosettaR and @rebecca121
I
Know this thread is old but did you both get the TSH corrected or fall pregnant before?
I'm
In this situation now !! My tsh is

RosettaR · 04/06/2021 08:58

Hi @ShiningStarz, I actually had high TSH so it doesn't apply to me. I know someone on here, @Mrs71, had low TSH like you. She did get it resolved and then got pregnant really quickly after that if I remember rightly. If she's still around maybe she can let you know more detail. What I do know is you need to see a consultant endocrinologist for medication and regular monitoring. So either hassle your GP or look for one privately. The monitoring is really important because the medication can make your TSH go too high which is also bad. If you get pregnant the monitoring is really important the whole pregnancy! Best of luck, I hope you get it sorted.

Hi @RosettaR!! I wasn’t but I had an email notification come through and just come back on here. How are you? 🙂Yes that’s right. @ShiningStarz my TSH was exactly the same 0.01 I went privately to an endocrinologist and it was resolved very quickly. Within about 8 weeks my medication was sorted I had regular blood tests and I fell pregnant within 3 months of me going to see the endocrinologist. My little boy is now 10 months old 🙂
I was monitored very closely throughout my pregnancy scans every 4 weeks at 36 weeks my placenta failed and I had to have a c section but my little boy was healthy weighing 5.5lbs! I did originally go to a nhs consultant but she was rubbish! I went privately and it worked. Hope this helps x

Thanks so much @Mrs71 and @RosettaR
I had a little girl last year, she is 9 months. I took thyroxine in that pregnancy and was monitored very closely as you both mention. I was slightly hypo then.
Now post pregnancy I had routine bloods which picked up I had gone hyper!! So they stopped the thyroxine but still 2 months later tsh is still

RosettaR · 06/06/2021 12:39

@ShiningStarz I didn't know that could happen! I'm sure the consultant will be able to sort it out, thyroid things are generally easily resolved once you've got the dose right.

@Mrs71 congratulations on your baby! I had IVF eventually, it was super stressful because although I got 19 eggs only 2 of them fertilised and of them only one survived for a transfer. But then it split and I now have 3 month old twin boys! They were born at 34 weeks at 5lb and 4lb 1oz but they are more than double that now!

I'm sorry you had a stressful pregnancy. One of my twins was very small and his cord didn't attach well to the placenta, we had weeklybscans the whole time, and then they were born at 34 weeks but it was all planned so probably less stressful.

The whole TTC / IVF journey seems like a distant memory now!

Congrats to you both @RosettaR and @Mrs71 🥰🥰

@ShiningStarz hello! I know you're pregnant now again (from September 2020 thread! ). Just had my results and my tsh is 0.01. How did you find it was resolved?

ShiningStarz · 18/04/2022 20:53

@Chanel05 you need to get referred to endocrine pregnancy clinic straight away! Are you taking any meds for your thyroid?? I had to wait it out about 6 months on no meds as I had post partum thyroiditis and then it resolved and I started the low dose tabs and then fell pregnant very quickly

Chanel05 · 22/04/2022 12:53

@ShiningStarz no 😬 I found out the day before I got my bfp about the thyroid so have no meds yet. I'm having a battle because people don't seem to know what to do!

Had repeat bloods this week and
My T4 is now 22, was 18 two weeks ago and T3 is 10 and it was 7 two weeks ago. How long did it take for your T4 to decrease once you've been medicated?
