Trying to conceive after 6 losses

Hello

I am new here, 26 and married to my childhood sweetheart.

We started trying after our wedding in 2014, a year after starting TTC, I fell pregnant which ended before 5 weeks.

5 years on, 5 more losses, only one did we get a heartbeat with and I had to have a D&C on Christmas Eve 2016.

My blood tests have come back normal apart from since I was 18 I’ve been battling acute angiodema which causes different areas of my body to swell randomly in an immune response, this can be triggered by becoming sick such as a common cold or can also be bought on my stress.

So far, I am battling with the NHS to get an autoimmune disease diagnosed.

In 2 of my pregnancies, I tried progesterone suppositories which didn’t work.

I’m not sure where to go from here and I am feeling a bit lost, we are trying again after a years break and I really long for a healthy pregnancy.

Is there anything anybody could advise me on? Such as specialists in my local area of Surrey/Hampshire, any supplements that I can take? I am currently taking a baby aspirin and prenatal daily.

Thanks so much in advance xx

Mr Shehata. Good luck and I’m sorry for what you have been through. Flowers

I have an autoimmune disease and didn’t get a bfp until steroids and lipids were added to my protocol (prednisoline for me in terms of steroids but you might need different ones). I would suggest going to an infertility clinic as they are the ones who offer the gold standard in terms of recurrent miscarriage care not the NHS.

hi i have been trying for a second child for nearly 8 years. From all my research i would say go to a clinic you feel comfortable with and spend the money, the two we have narrowed it down to are Pragamedica and ceram in spain. You are young so doubtful it's your egg quality but you need everything checked. There's a lovely fertility doc in Chelsfield hospital in Kent that you could visit. I think if you need IVF though from what i have read and friends, i'd go abroad. We spent a small fortune at the lister, felt like cash cows. Good luck.x

I used Care Fertility.

Flowers Sorry to hear of all you have been through.

Given your auto-immune issues, it sounds to me like you need to see somebody who is well versed in recurrent miscarriage and immunes. You might find the forums on the fertility friends site to be helpful.

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/10/2019 00:16

Have you been referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic? They should do a big lot tests which cover all sorts of things.

You’ve been through so much, it’s heartbreaking and I feel for you Flowers

I can’t help on autoimmune conditions but keep pursuing that through your GP and hospital.

My own experience was 5 miscarriages including two missed ones and no diagnosis but a recurrent miscarriage consultant who thought I probably had an as yet undiagnosable clotting issue which affected how my placentas form. As he wasn’t sure he tried increasing numbers of meds till with this last one he threw every single he could at it and I’ll never know what did the truck. After 3 years of trying to stay pregnant I have my daughter and I was on a huge dose of progesterone suppositories, steroids, 150mg aspirin, two fragmin injections a day and antibiotics. Those were for varying lengths of time but the aspirin and fragmin were from bfp to term.

I was lucky to get referred to the RMC by my EPU after my third loss and the care was exceptional. We had fortnightly scans and that helped a lot. If you haven’t been referred to one then make that your priority.

I don’t know if I can help but happy to chat or answer any questions.

ec1993 · 24/10/2019 09:24

Wow, I didn’t expect all of these responses.

Thank you so so much.

EPU referred me to RMC and the tests they did come back negative including thrombophilia and anti cardiolipin antibodies.

I’m wondering if I could get a referral to Dr Shehata under the NHS as we couldn’t afford to go private just yet, struggling to save for a mortgage!

I have Prednisilone at home that I take in a high dose (60mg 12 x 5mg) when I have a swelling so I’m not unfamiliar with them.

Thank you all so so much xx

Didn't get my referral to Dr Shehata like I requested, just been sent to a general immunologist who I don't think will be able to help me with the whole pregnancy saga but my appointments Wednesday so I'll update you all. Thank you xx
