Ovulation Tests - not in the morning?

I had no idea that you’re not meant to test with first morning urine. I just read that the body produces the hormone overnight so it might give a false result. Best to test between 10am - 8pm. Am I the only one who didn’t know this?!

I believe it depends on the test, CB digitals say you must use FMU whereas the internet cheapies say second or early afternoon is best. I think it depends on the sensitivity of the test or something? Best to follow the instructions of the brand you have - which are you using?

I didn’t realise this when TTC my first, she’s nearly 3 now so it didn’t prevent me getting pregnant!

Whilst TTC my second (currently 36 weeks) I tried to do the tests a bit later in the day but struggled to be consistent with timings and how much I had to drink before testing. I don’t think the timing made much difference, for me at least.

As I understand it, the Clearblue digital ones look for a change in your baseline level of LH, so you should use FMU every day, whereas others look for your LH level to go above a particular pre-decided level (which I forget).

@SMiles14 @MajorFaffington I’ve been using Clear Blue Digi but am trying the internet cheapies this month. The Clear Blue Digi is so easy to read, you can’t go wrong! But quite pricey. I’ll see how I get on with the cheapies, i just didn’t realise they weren’t meant to be used with fmu.
