Back story: started ttc in June 2018, fell pregnant in February 2019 but had a mmc and surgical management for this in May. Been ttc ever since with no luck and my cycles are now 35/36 days long, they were 31 days. I definitely ovulate each month as I confirm this with temping. Been temping since September 2018 so very confident with this. I know it's normal to take a year to conceive and I fell within the normal range last time and still only on month 6 this time. I wanted to go private as my local nhs won't see me. Dh says we can but he thinks it's a waste of money as we conceived before but I feel like it's taking so long that perhaps something is wrong. Anyone with experience of this I'd be grateful if they could offer advice. I called a clinic yesterday and they said that the whole process including results would take a maximum of 2 weeks, depending when we would be able to get to the clinic.

I would. Particularly if you’re over 32 or 33.

Do you think your OH has some unstated reason for stalling? Concern about MFI? Something else?

Hi @fallingasleeprightnow why won't your local nhs see you? If it's on the basis of time TTC, they should count from when you started and not take your MC into account. I was referred for NHS support earlier this year, I fell pregnant naturally so cancelled the appointment but my GP was more than happy to refer me again when I miscarried. I've now miscarried for a second time but still have an appointment lined up for a couple of weeks time. They might not be willing to support me but figured still worth going. I'm over 35 so not sure if that makes a difference though?

@TottieandMarchpane I'm 30 and he is 29. I think he just genuinely feels like I'm concerned over nothing and it will happen but the thing is, I feel like if they said we're both healthy and it's just taking time then fine but if we need intervention then I want to know ASAP.

@Avocuddles I'm sorry to hear of your miscarriages. My gp told me the clock reset for me the day of my mc which is really what you need to hear at such a vulnerable time!

Unfortunately the clock does reset after a MC. This is because you have been able to conceive so aren't considered infertile anymore.

Seems really unfair if it's potentially the only time you have conceived in over a year and you still don't have a healthy pregnancy but I guess IVF would only help you conceive and not guarantee a baby at the end of it so you wouldn't necessarily be any better off. Sucks really

@fallingasleeprightnow that sucks re the clock starting again, I assume it's one of those things that might vary by area as I've been told by my GP that I would still be eligible to be seen, although I guess my age may also be a factor.

I know it's sometimes to hard to believe but the odds really are still in your favour that you will conceive again and go on to have a successful pregnancy. Only you can know how desperate you are to get that BFP and whether private treatment is the route you wish to take. Have you tried any alternative treatments? I have found fertility acupuncture very helpful - my cycles were 40+ days prior to starting treatment, but within a month or two it reduced right down to 32 days which was unheard of for me, and I did conceive again which is a positive even if it unfortunately didn't work out. It's quite expensive but a lot cheaper than fertility treatment so might be worth a try...... Make sure you find a therapist who specialises in fertility and they will help you assess your lifestyle and make recommendations around supplements etc that might be beneficial.
