I've found opks very useful, especially as an older person (40) with thyroid issues. I had no idea what my cycles were doing as have been on pill for so many years and never really had any period symptoms other than actual period every month. Rarely got sore boobs, rarely had ovulation pain, rarely got mid month spotting so this is a whole new world to me

Katie1109 · 23/10/2019 08:42

@Makeafamily19 thank you. Yes I di get pg in August, so you're probably right, I'm just being an idiot here x
@claireb707 I do not think I have any underlying issues, unless I do not know about them. I generally feel healthy, so there isn't really anything that should make me think otherwise x Sorry about your thyroid, my Mum has issues with it, so I know it's not pleasant x
How often do you use opk's? and what time of the day? I've heard it is not advised to use them with FMU, is that right? x

It's not that bad to be honest other than regular blood tests (and that's bad as I have dodgy veins). I get free prescriptions so that's always a bonus 😀😂
Opks I use 2 different ones - cheapies from Amazon and the clear blue digital ones.
The cheapies I use daily from the end of my period (cd4), I test mid afternoon, and then I start using the cbd ones from about cd6, these you do use fmu, I start testing twice a day from about cd8 and then more often once I get a high fertility flashing smiley

Gigi318 · 23/10/2019 08:54

@claireb707 that's okay, thank you babe!

@Makeafamily19 it really does babe. I'm going to. I'm feeling a little lighter now. I'm never usually negative and I feel like I'm being dragged down and that's not me. So I need to shake it off. Get back to being me 💖 I'm going to. The Mexican food, wine, and chocolate will come this evening!

@Katie1109 thank you babe. I'm feeling a little better. I'm just going to follow my own advice and be kind to myself today and take it slow. And, of course, wine and choc my way back to happiness. The usual me 💖💖💖
I will have my sweet little poppy seed soon!
Try not to panic babe. Remember, if they show that you don't O then it's BETTER that you know because then you can DO something about it rather than struggling from month to month babe. It's a good move. It's better to know than not. And I believe you will O, but the OPKs will just help you to be sure of it. It's all going to work out for you, my love xx

Lizziedu49 · 23/10/2019 10:12

@Gigi318 I'm so sorry, keep your chin up. You seem like such a happy positive person so please don't lose your sparkle.

As for myself I am CD32 and still no AF.

Realistically I don't think I ovulated this month (annoyingly I was away the weekend I thought I might and didn't want take OPK) and these cramps I have been getting for the past two weeks could be the sign of a problem. So have booked a GP app ☹️

There are quite a few sad girlies on this thread this month 🙁

Gigi318 · 23/10/2019 10:31

@Lizziedu49 thank you babe. I really am. Just taking it easy today and I'm sure I'll feel much better later. Silly hormones!
Sorry to hear that chick! I'm now wondering if I did. I did have twinges and watery CM but no EWCM which I do usually have. So I'm not sure. Sending love and hugs 💖💖💖

Katie1109 · 23/10/2019 13:46

My opks arrived and this is my first result x I’m CD10 today x the app says it’s high, but not peak. Has anyone got photos of what your opk looks like at different stages? x

Those look negative to me, that sort you only get neg or pos.

The clearblue digital ones you get high/ peak.

On the cheapy ones with me I got almost no line at all but got high on the cbd

Katie1109 · 23/10/2019 13:59

I bought those because they’re meant to be compatible with femo meter app which read this result as high LH13. High range shows as 10-79. I’m confused lol x I knew this wasn’t a good idea x

claireb707 · 23/10/2019 14:10

Ah right ok, not seen those before

Sorry I just got cheapy wandfo ones from Amazon

claireb707 · 23/10/2019 14:11

Ah now I've opened the pic fully it makes sense, then yes I'd say they were high fertility, which means you are within your fw, get dtd woman!

claireb707 · 23/10/2019 14:13

This is my cheapy from my peak day

TTC Baby number 1 - Looking for buddies #2
Makeafamily19 · 23/10/2019 14:16

@Katie1109 you can get high but not peak as the line normally gets darker then when you peak it's darker than the control line.
So mine start off completely white or very faint then get darker. Mine was like that when I got flashing smiley. There can be a lot of variation in the cheapies I find though. Sometimes I get peak on CB but only dark line that isn't as strong as control on cheapies. Does that make sense?!

Plus some women peak really quickly and might not have much of a build up whereas some can get medium/ dark lines for days before positive/ peak.

I would say that line looks strong but that you haven't peaked yet. Test twice a day now, you might want to do one later on today around 6pm then again tomorrow morning.

Peaceandloves · 23/10/2019 14:18

@Gigi318 so sorry to hear this love. I know good things are coming to you soon x

jemx · 23/10/2019 14:18

Hi all, hope it’s okay for me to join.

I’m 27
TTC #1
Cycle 3
Due 1st Nov

Using Ovia and Clue to track, apparently I ovulated around 18th but when I took an OPK it was negative first time I’d ever used one so trying not to worry too much. We’d DTD 6 times between AF finishing and then so hoping for the best and maybe I ovulated early? Patience is not my strong point and I’ve already taken an early test (obviously negative as far too early). Trying not to obsess but it’s easier said than done!

Katie1109 · 23/10/2019 14:40

@claireb707 thanks hun x these ones are only cheap too, I think I paid £8 for a pack of 50 on Amazon! x
@Makeafamily19 thank you for the pointers, I’ll try to test little bit later x and then tomorrow morning x I have just read on few different websites that FMU shouldn’t be used for opks and that’s it’s best to test between 10am and 8pm x thought I’ll share my new learning lol x

Makeafamily19 · 23/10/2019 14:49

@Katie1109 yeah cos your LH normally peaks in the afternoon but I've had strong positives in the morning before when I've had a peak in the evening and it's lasted till morning 😊 if you only test once a day do it in the afternoon but once I detect high fertility I can test 3 times a day 🤣 obsessed

Makeafamily19 · 23/10/2019 15:00

Welcome @jemx I'm due 4th Nov and a few of us are around that time so we can survive this TWW together 😆

jemx · 23/10/2019 15:04

@Makeafamily19 thank you Grin it's actually my birthday on 4th Nov so really hoping I'll get a BFP!

Lizziedu49 · 23/10/2019 15:58

Pretty accurate...

claireb707 · 23/10/2019 15:59

😂😂😂

Raizelrea · 23/10/2019 17:42

@Katie1109 @Makeafamily19 I've only been using OPKs for two cycles so far so far from an expert, but I'm pretty sure I peak over night - both of the times cheapies have been getting stronger but not quite there but CB opk gave me peak results in the evening (around 8pm-9pm) and by the morning the cheapie barely had a line. That or maybe I drink too much water by for cheapies to ever have a strong line. So I guess it just varies.

Gigi318 · 23/10/2019 18:34

Oh goodness, I've missed so much today and all I did was have a hair appointment 🤣🙈 will do my best to catch up!

@Katie1109 yay to OPKs! Although I am not an expert in them but glad the girls were able to give you some feedback. Looks a pretty strong line?

@Peaceandloves oh babe thank youuu! What a kind thing to say. I hope so. And in the meantime, I'm more than happy to drown my sorrows in wine (which I am doing right now hehehe) how are you doing???

@Lizziedu49 OMG yes. This is literally how I feel right now. And I do have a flair for the dramatic... 😂😂😂

@Raizelrea how are you doing babe?? Miss youuuu xx

@jemx welcome love! How are you? Don't worry, I think we all are. Patience is not my strong point. I always KNEW that when I decided I was ready for a baby, I would want it, like, yesterday. So TTC is fun 🙃 hehehe! Sorry, I'm usually a light of positivity but AF arrived last night and I'm drinking wine! I'm just about to move onto cycle 3! Fingers crossed for you xx

jemx · 23/10/2019 18:51

@Gigi318 I’m fine thanks, how are you? It’s such a disappointment when AF arrives isn’t it? Fingers crossed that next month will be the one for you, enjoy your wine while you can! xx

Gigi318 · 23/10/2019 20:04

@jemx thanks babe. That's what I thought. Good to commiserate with! I'm doing okay. Feel a bit better now. Think I might do my best to try and forget about it all for a few days 🙈 xxx
